Re: JoshC1977's "Maximize Player Ratings" MLB 20 Sliders
I was helping Forme out with his MoM set, I was testing out what he had been running with, which included this adjustment.
I wanted to go down this road a while ago...just to tone down some of the animations a hair. But, everytime I tried it, it always resulted in some really wonky animations that caused me to "kill it". What I realized through Forme is that sometimes adjustments can take a bit of time to settle-in (which is also why it's silly when folks offer feedback one game after a patch drops). Once I took that time to do so, the questionable animations dissipated and it began to look really good.
Default is fine (as we both know)....but this adjustment is helping to "stretch" some of the ratings just a bit as the slower speed (in particular) is placing more of the burden on the fielder's rating (and thus his fielding routes) than just his speed.Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.Comment

Re: JoshC1977's "Maximize Player Ratings" MLB 20 Sliders
Popping in here as I fired up my Detroit Tigers Fictional Bacon franchise this weekend after a good 2 months away.
What a game, and what a set. Implemented the fielding changes and things didn't skip a beat!
I lost to the Tribe trying to get MVP/Cy Young front runner Ethan Kintzler his league high 20th win. Kintz will likely get one more start before the postseason to meet that goal!
I've never played anywhere near this number of games in a franchise before, a true kudos to all who've worked on this game!Twitch: Goblue81188Comment

Re: JoshC1977's "Maximize Player Ratings" MLB 20 Sliders
I finally began to dive back in the last couple of nights. I've been enjoying a lot of Diamond Dynasty offline content and Madden the last couple of months after finishing year 1 of my franchise (and starting into year 2).
I have finally hit that point where I'm "too comfortable" with the OP pitch speeds and have gone up 1 notch on each one and I'm back to being uncomfortable without it feeling overtly reflex-based.
In early April 2021 of my fictional Braves franchise. We're off to a hot 10-3 start (some of that prior to the pitch speed adjustment). Had two different games, one an extra inning affair we lost when I made a poor pitch selection and got a ball hammered into the stands. The second was a beautiful start by 2nd year player (and former top prospect) Davis Wasielewski, as he threw 8 shutout innings before getting totally gassed in the 9th.
After a disastrous year 1 (and a tremendous offseason where we added a ton of quality pitching), it has been rewarding to see the vast difference in pitching performance. We're still relying on two young starters in the rotation; they'll take their lumps, I'm sure. But it's been fun to see them "flash" their upside while the higher-end vets do their jobs. We need a post-season run here in year 2 to keep my job secure...otherwise, year 3 will be a complete make-or-break year...and I'd rather not get to that point.Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.Comment

Re: JoshC1977's "Maximize Player Ratings" MLB 20 Sliders
Still loving the gameplay with these Josh. Also, love the adjustment in fielder speed and reaction!
Just a tip for those struggling hitting. I made a camera adjustment when pitching to match the camera I use to hit with. This allows me to get more reps, so to speak in pitch recognition, that matches up perfectly with my hitting camera. I've been raking since!
In doing this, I've developed a new found love with pitching. The broadcast cam, for me, was getting old, plus I couldn't take the animations (slow mo type swings, etc.).
I'm determined to get through 162 before spring!Comment

Re: JoshC1977's "Maximize Player Ratings" MLB 20 Sliders
I’m a CPU vs CPU broadcast guy still playing MLB ‘19 for the time being. I’ve used and tinkered with just about every slider set out there. I began using these just as you have them. At first, I didn’t think there was enough offense and started to tinker with a couple of sliders but decided to leave it alone. Over a span of several more games, I’m seeing more extra base hits, scoring, as well as a good mix of home runs. I’ll see pitcher duel 2-1 type games with a combined 8 hits. Other times, they’ll be a 10-1 game with 15 hits for the winning team. Also, a 7-5 game with 22 hits between both clubs will happen. In other words, it’s a great, realistic variety.
Those of you who are CPU vs CPU guys need to use these sliders just as he has them. Give it numerous games, and you’ll see some true to life baseball.
I’m looking forward to using this set for MLB ‘20.Comment

Re: JoshC1977's "Maximize Player Ratings" MLB 20 Sliders
Finally made it through the regular season over the weekend, in my Bacon's Fictional Tigers Franchise.
Ethan Kintzler ended up with the double dip: MVP and Cy Young; 20-6, 1.60 ERA, 286K's (I believe).
We waited to see who our ALDS opponent was and no surprise the Oakland A's took down our division rival Twins to secure their place.
Game 1 was a battle. We traded early runs and high pitch counts. Ultimately the game went to extra innings where we were able to walk off winners!
What a feeling, and what a game. Going to finish up this season before the end of the month, with hopes of becoming World Champs!Twitch: Goblue81188Comment

Re: JoshC1977's "Maximize Player Ratings" MLB 20 Sliders
Hey Josh, this may have been asked but would you ever recommend using pure analog for this slider set? Aside from using the right stick instead of buttons to swing, i don't know if there is any real difference in gameplay results with pure analog vs directional, other than perhaps the window to swing is slightly larger with pure analog (which i wouldn't mind if true since i play with maxed out pitch speeds). Thanks!Last edited by mitchel55; 11-03-2020, 01:34 AM.Comment

The downside is that part of the skill with directional is using the different swing mechanics and you're going to lose that with analog.Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.Comment

I use Mike Lowe's sliders and my Bacon fictional league plays great with those as well. For those of you on the fence because there's no real players, trust me, you're gonna love these rosters! I will never go back to real rosters, and I was one of those franchise guys that re started every time one of Ridins rosters were updated. It's so nice to have the game day 1 and diving right into my franchise!Playstation Network:That70s_Gamer
