If it's on 0 dynamic difficulty won't adjust. If you were to set it at 10 the difficulty will fluctuate after every at bat. If you set it to 1 it will adjust after... honestly don't know how long that one takes but just that it's super slow lol."Listen son, you only have enough runs when you’re showering after a win."Comment

Re: JoshC1977's "Maximize Player Ratings" MLB 20 Sliders
(I added this to the ancillary information section on Post 2)
Steps for Using Dynamic Difficulty:
1. Go into game settings and change hitting and pitching to dynamic.
2. Load sliders, make sure the dynamic difficulty sensitivity slider is set to 5. (It can be higher as well while you do your run to boost the difficulty).
3. Save any changes to the sliders.
4. Go into a Play Now game and see what level it has you set to (there will be a pop-up).
5. Play the game and wait for it to go to AS+. (now...if it starts you at a lower level...go ahead and boost the sensitivity slider to 10 and/or bias the sliders completely in your favor - this all will just make it go faster).
6. Once you hit AS+ on both hitting and pitching, exit the game you're playing. Go and load the OP sliders and then change the dynamic difficulty sensistivity slider to 0. That will lock you into AS+.
7. Once in franchise, double check your game settings and sliders and make sure they are what you want.Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.Comment

Re: JoshC1977's "Maximize Player Ratings" MLB 20 Sliders
Never mind, I see the different goals. Yearly goals are either finish at .500 or make playoffs. And then the contract goals. But the team performance goals are the same for every team. Which I think should be different for each team. It’s okay to have a goal for the Yankees to win 10 games and series in a row. But a team like the Tigers should have lower expectations.

Re: JoshC1977's "Maximize Player Ratings" MLB 20 Sliders
Just to clarify, I had a typo...the goals are not disabled, it's the GM Contracts that are disabled. So, you'll never be fired, never feel that pressure to succeed in three years. The big goals are the season and contract goals (which vary by team). The others can help keep your GM rating up but the contract goal is the biggie...that's what will put the 'pressure to perform' on you.

Re: JoshC1977's "Maximize Player Ratings" MLB 20 Sliders
I wish GM contracts weren't only 3 years, because I do like that immersion factor. If you're a player, like me, that loves rebuilding the worst teams, 3 years just doesn't cut it. I used to play with GM contracts on, but right when the personnel was ready to make waves, I'd be fired. It just got too frustrating. If GM contracts were based on what kind of team you have, it would add so much. Giving a rebuilding GM 5 or 6 years instead of 3 would be a huge bonus.
One of the most extreme tear-downs I've ever seen was the Astros in the early 2010s. When Jeff Lunhow was hired as GM in December 2011; they had already hit bottom. They won 70 games in his 3rd season and went to the playoffs in his 4th. That's an extreme case...and MLBTS's system is only one year under that. The only team in a major mess is Baltimore; and the system has some talent already. I don't think 3 seasons is unreasonable (challenging, yes...but for us guys that play every game...it can be doable...you just have to really get in-tune with some guys).
I see your point though and having different contract lengths could be a nice touch....
One other comment; starting with base custom rosters that have a ton of real life A/rookie level players really can compound things. Sure, you have lots of potential talent...but with so many at extreme young ages, it takes a LONG time to develop....it doesn't jive with the 3 year goals. Rosters following SDS' convention more closely (like Bacon's fictional or Ridin's 1.5 and below) work better because there are a larger number of usable C potential guys who can help you out by year 2 because they are older and get closer to that peak progression rate.Last edited by JoshC1977; 05-15-2020, 10:43 AM.Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.Comment

I think 5 or 6 is too generous personally. Four years...maaaayyyybbbbeeee for rebuilds..

Re: JoshC1977's "Maximize Player Ratings" MLB 20 Sliders
It just leads to all the usual franchise mode issues...
Not enough decent OVR but low potential players -->faster dev for young guys --> quicker regression for older guys as they get supplanted --> more quality players not signed in FA --> teams become over-saturated with players over 80 OVR and team identity gets lost.
(Of course you also will have more issues with top guys going into the Rule 5, trading being too easy, etc.)
Regardless, by year 15, regardless of the roster used...it begins stabilizing to appropriate levels.
Is 2.0 notably different than 1.5? I haven't dug that deep. I DO know 2.5 is worse than 1.5 (even so, it is still a VAST improvement over any roster they've done for previous games - Ridin's team has done a much better job this year).
If you're ensconced in a season....just roll with it...you'll be fine overall. But if a person is starting a new franchise, I'd go as low on the version number as possible. Frankly speaking, SDS roster updates (when there is actually a season) are just as bad....early season rosters are always going to be better for franchise stability.Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.Comment

Re: JoshC1977's "Maximize Player Ratings" MLB 20 Sliders
I've gone back to an earlier save and settled on AS+ for both hitting and pitching. Right now my Yankees are 25-15 just 1 game up on the Rays and 3 up on Boston. The last 22 of those games they're 12-10. Stats for the last 22 games.
Runs NY 5.2 CPU 4.0
BA NY .272 CPU .232
K's NY 8.7 CPU 8.5
Doubles NY 2.7 CPU 1.7
HR's NY 1.6 CPU 1.5
These stats are getting a lot more realistic as pure AS was just getting too easy for me. Not that my skills have improved, they haven't. Jeez I'm almost 59. My personal opinion is the have lowered AS level. The show 15 with Armor&Swords sliders were unbelievably spot on. I think they to an extent made user import have more to effect outcomes rather than rating, if that makes any sense. Anyways I'm really enjoying this game.Comment

Josh, how can we adjust back to AS+ if we used dynamic initially and have jumped above that level? I used dynamic at release like a knucklehead lol.

Re: JoshC1977's "Maximize Player Ratings" MLB 20 Sliders
I've been using the OP sliders in my Phillies franchise, still on AS. I'm having a blast - I'm 13-3 and I'm not first or last in any category. I was first in ERA for a while but that has gone up some so I'm 2nd or 3rd now. I was wondering if this was a little too easy for me, but the Phillies start with the Marlins, Mets, Brewers, Blue Jays and Reds - none of whom are within 3 games of .500.
The Reds were the closest, when I went into Cincinnati for a 4 game set the Reds were .500. I absolutely pounded the ball the first two games and won both easily. Game 3 was different as I won 2-0 and I have 7 hits. The Sunday finale I had Nola going, so I figured this would be an easy one as his ERA was .70 (or so) heading in. Well, not so much - Nola had problems locating and was chased after giving up two home runs, including a 3 run blast and the Phils took the lost 7-1. I think I had 4 hits. Now off to Milwaukee.
I've been thinking of bumping up to AS+ but since my competition thus far (obviously a minute sample size) has been struggling, I've held off. Plus I had never used Classic or directional hitting before so that took some getting used to. We'll see. I know the Phils weren't being picked to have a strong season, but if their hitters stay healthy, the lineup is pretty strong - Hoskins is a key and he started on fire for me though he has cooled some.
An aside - does anyone play franchise games in historical parks? I often play one game a series in a team's historical park (if they have one) just for a change in scenery. Like for my series in Cincinnati I played game 3 in Crosley Field. I played one game in Miami at Old Marlins and one game at Shea against the Mets. I will play an occasional Phillies home game at Shibe (fun fact - the house my dad grew up in is in the game - if you look over the right field wall, in foul territory there is an alley - his old house is to the left of the alley)."It's a dog-eat-dog world and I'm wearing Milk-Bone underwear."
