Steve and I will be making another slider set for 2022. The most important thing for us is to make this game fun for everybody. We are trying to make this game fun, but challenging and rewarding to everybody.

We make sure that our sliders will play out to average what you see in real-life MLB. We know that some of our fielding and speed numbers look off but they make the game more realistic. We make sure that our hit variety and distribution are close to what MLB averages are. We don't want all of our runs scoring via home runs. The MLB average is around 50% of runs scored. We try to get the hit distribution below. Steve and I keep track of all our stats on a spreadsheet and in 2021 we were both right on. We don't expect you to care or follow that as we just want to make it fun. But that is fun for us to keep track.

    Singles: 65%
    Doubles: 20%
    Triples: 2%
    Home Runs: 12%

We start with dynamic difficulty and lock it down once we get settled. Last year we were at Allstar and Allstar + for hitting and legend for pitching. We will start there this year. I even hope is that we can find a balance using HOF for pitching this year.

We use Quick Counts but these work without it as well.

Hitting Difficulty- Dynamic (Between Allstar + and Hall of Fame)
    Hitting Interface: Directional or Timing
    Guess Pitch: Off
    Baserunning: Auto

Pitching Difficulty- Dynamic (Between Allstar + and Hall of Fame)
    Pitching Interface: Classic
    Pitch Confidence: On
    API: Personal preference

    Fielding:

    Throwing Interface: Buttons
    Throwing Meter: Off

    General:
    Gameplay Style: Simulation
    Fielding Aids: Off
    Strike Zone: Off
    Hot Zones: Off
    Wind: On
    Dynamic Difficulty Updates: Progress
    Balks: Off

Umpire Accuracy: User Preference (could also switch it to get more variety).

    Slider Settings Version 1

    User/CPU

    Contact: 5/5
    Power: 3/3
    Timing: 5/5
    Foul Frequency: 0/0
    Solid Hits: 5/5
SP Stamina: 7/7 (5 for simulated games)
RP Stamina: 8/8 (1 for simulated games)
    Pitcher Control: 0/5
    Pitcher Consistency: 3/3
    Strike Frequency: 5
CPU Manager Hook: 5 until SP is removed. 10 for bullpen. 8 for simulated games
    CPU Pickoffs: 0
    Pitch Speed: User Preference

    Fielding/Baserunning Sliders

    Infield Errors: 10
    Outfield Errors: 7
    Throwing Errors Infield: 5
    Throwing Errors Outfield: 0
    Fielder Run Speed: 0
    Fielder Reaction: 0
Arm Strength IF: 0 - This lets you still beat out infield singles and controls the double plays. You will still see higher rated infielders make good throws.
    Arm Strenght OF: 4
Baserunner Speed: 1 - Doubles and triples will still happen. You will still beat out an infield hit since the IF Arm Strength is lower. This solves the soft hits to CF where the batter tries to stretch a single into a double and get thrown out by a mile.
    Steal Ability: 6
    Steal Frequency: 5
    Wind: 5
    Game Played Injury Frequency: 10
    Simulation Injury Frequency: 6
    Simulated AA/AAA Injury Frequency: 0-2

    Coach Mod's Modifiers

OS Member Coachmod came up with this really awesome card modifier system you can use before every game in your franchise. I shared this with Armor and he uses this as well. It adds a bit of change and a different element to every game. This is totally optional so if you do not want to use it, you do not have to. I just thought I'd share.

Directions: Pick 3 cards before every game. Change the slider based on the cards you picked based on the table below.

Looking forward to these. You guys NAILED it on 21!!!

One question for those who already have the game.

Which regular season schedule is in use on the game?

Is it the one they made prior to the labor issues or is it the revised one that begins later this week?

We are back testing power and solid hits at 4 for everyone.

          Reaction back up to 1.

Manager hook at 6 for start of playing a game.

Steve is knocking out testing today and the numbers look good so far.

So you use our sliders (or any other slider set as a base). And then you draw 3 cards. You could draw an many as you choose if you want. I think someone else on here just does 2. And you find your card on the chart and change the slider. Like if it says HUM CON +1 you would raise your contact by 1 for that game only. I’ll try fixing it today and make it easier to read. Con is short for contact. PI Cont would be pitcher control.
Fantastic - better then what I was doing randomly - thanks SADLY I get the game the same day as a colonoscopy. LOL

Yeah I feel more comfortable standing when I bat.

I guess at least you have something to look forward to after. Good luck!

He was thrown out at 2nd but not by much. I was okay with it because the hit did look like it was a double. And he only had 43 speed. A guy with 60+ speed would've made it easily.

More than welcome to play around with baserunner speed though. Just beware that raising it will definitely cause more aggressive base running.
It's not new but something a guy here on OS years ago came up with. I believe Armor uses it as well. I never have but this year I plan to once I start my re franchise. Definitely puts some more dynamics into the game otherwise not there.

Yep understand it's not really the doubles that works brilliant having it on1

I was worried about that works well if a low speed guy try's that! it's when the CPU decides to run on a WP, I can fix that for myself hitting R1 if I am fast enough if I am batting. but the CPU just takes off ridiculous sometimes. it's like the Ai has it programmed to take off during some Wild Pitch animations regardless baserunning speed.

I think I have only thrown out a guy trying to advance on a wild pitch once this year so far. And that was at 3B and it was close. We will keep an eye on it.

I have thrown out a guy twice attempting to run on a wild pitch. But I have noticed they attempt more often than ever before. Once the ball just bounced out in front of the catcher. Jose Ramirez took off for 3rd to my surprise. He was actually safe but it was really close. I think lead offs from 2nd are naturally further than from 1st off so maybe that's why idk.

I think you could be right in that certain animations are triggering it more than others. At the same time however, I had balls go to the backstop and they didn't take off.

Update: Raised OF Arm Strength back to 5. Was seeing some lazy throws.

OP is updated with our change back to power to 4 and Solid Hits at 4.

Also, with our testing we keep track of how runs score. We don’t want all the runs scoring via home run. From 2019 and 2020 these are the league averages.

                            Single: 21%
                            Double: 15%
                            Triple: 3%
                            Home Run: 49%
                            Walks: 1%

Cool I will change this tonight, I think I have about 6 games left of opening day to play.

I might check my box scores and see the % of what I have had so far. but I do know when the power was dropped to 3 and Solid hits to 5 hitting did decrease hitting slightly.

One thing for sure I have noticed Stamina is HUGE!! this year it actually matters. I find that when the CPU is in the red and leaves a starter in to long I can actually make them pay and that is when my clutch big homers come from. so getting the Pitch count high is really important this year. in the past the CPU would still cruise at over 100 pitches with no enegey and make no difference. now you can make them pay for it and they will then sub them out. which is fantastic like it is in the real world.

I've been testing my butt off today guys. I am pitching only currently on HOF. I pitch for both teams every game for this meaning I switch sides every half inning. Allows us to see double the data for cpu hitting and get through testing much faster. I pitched against almost 500AB today so far in seven games doing this so we have good data to look at already.

We are now going to test something from what we saw from those games next. Crazy but now there are too many singles lol. It's really too many hits overall and high batting averages. And not enough strikeouts vs cpu hitting. If we can get the strikeouts that should get the batting averages where we want along with the singles. We are close though!
