We will post an update on our testing later on. Looking promising but we don't want to rush it.Last edited by bryanm1982; 04-05-2022, 02:21 PM.Follow me on Twitch

Re: S & B's Directional/Classic/Quick Counts MLB 22 Sliders
I just played the most overall realistic game so far for 2022. Box score below just so everyone can see where we are headed towards with the sliders. Can't wait to grind out some more testing and reveal our newest update so long as we continue to see games like this and also a few pitcher duels in there. I pitched for both teams again so all offense is from the cpu.
CLE 5 9 0 (5BB 13K)
NYY 4 13 0 (1BB 9K)
Yankees- 5 doubles, 8 singles.
Guardians- 2 doubles, 1 homerun, 6 singles
SP T. McKenzie 4ip 7h 2er 2k
SP G. Cole 6ip 5h 2er 4bb 8k
The strikeouts are there without losing the offense from the cpu. A perfect balance this game! This one has me very excited for what MLB 22 will bring us. We are headed towards the gameplay and even better hopefully than we had for 2021 without being forced to Legend pitching like we had to do last year.

Re: S & B's Directional/Classic MLB 22 Sliders
I just had a 0 0 game with dodgers v Rockies. Won in a walk off sac fly in 10th )thanks host runner rule)
3 games to go for opening day.
The game is awesome every game is unique this Is baseball! I’ll say it again mlb 21 didn’t feel like every game was unique this is.
When my first 2 games were 11-2 5-3 I was worried offence was too good, but when I couldn’t hit with the greatest lineup in baseball and hit to win off a sac fly in the 10th 1-0 wow!!
Turner was 1 for 2 steal so base running you can still stealComment

Re: S & B's Directional/Classic MLB 22 Sliders
I just wanted to give an update on the sliders. First off, I would like to give a big thanks to Steve for all his testing today. It does get redundant sometimes just doing testing and seeing if something works. We are excited to dig into our franchises but want to have really good games that are balanced.
We flirted with the idea of lowering contact to 4 and raising power and solid hits to 5. We were liking the strikeouts and the hit distribution but we just could not get enough offense from the CPU. You wouldn’t think one tick lower on contact would make the game feel so different. So we decided that we are just wasting our time with that experiment and contact will be staying at 5.
We feel confident enough to post these so you folks can use them and give us some feedback. We should be able to finalize this set in a couple of weeks. We are going to do some testing on offense just to make sure and still keep an eye on pitching.
Changes: (the change is in parentheses)
Human Control: 2 (+2)
Human Consistency: 2 (-1)
CPU Timing: 0 (-5)
Manager Hook: 4 (-2) still 10 for bullpen and 8 for sim.
Reaction: 1 (+1)
Steal Frequency: 4 (-1)
We raised control to get more strikeouts and we lowered consistency to keep the walks coming.
We lowered CPU Timing to get more swing and misses.
We have been been seeing the manager pull the starters too soon before they get tired. Bryce Wilson got pulled after 5 IP giving up 3 hits on 70 pitches. He should have been able to go one more inning. That was just one example. We kept seeing that.
Steal frequency is lowered cause runners would steal too much.
Please feel free to pop these in and let us know if you have any questions or feedback. Have fun folks!Last edited by bryanm1982; 04-05-2022, 05:37 PM.Follow me on Twitch

Re: S & B's Directional/Classic/Quick Counts MLB 22 Sliders
Wanted to chime in real quick on a couple things. First, we both use quick counts but by no means do you have to use it for the set to work as intended. We tested thoroughly last year without QC and the stats and data were the same. Yes I still wish QC had a few more starting counts but most of the time they are 1-1 starts. And I love how when a pitcher is struggling the odds of 3-1 count increase. Same with a pitcher doing well have increased odds of a nice 1-2 start.
The only differences are of course longer time to finish games. And you lose small pieces of the presentation. I can already say this year they talk about the umpires again with QC on. Last year you had to have it off to get the talk about umpires which I really missed.
These are not created with a no visuals approach in mind. We both use classic fade ball marker when pitching. However by all means if you want to go full clean screen then have at it. It will certainly make these even more challenging. In our opinion we feel the ability to aim exactly where you want the pitch to land is more realistic because every pitcher IRL has a spot in mind where they want to hit for each pitch.
With our lowered control and consistency sliders gives a realistic ability based on a number of things of the ball actually landing exactly where you want. Pitcher confidence is obviously huge for the pitch you are throwing when it comes to locating pitches. Turning off pitch selection I am good with cause I use API a lot personally. But I just rather see it all and it all turns off as you go into a throwing motion anyway.
Lastly, feedback is welcomed and wanted! Thanks everyone for joining us this year. The game is absolutely a joy to play and I can't wait to start my Mariners franchise very very soon!

Re: S & B's Directional/Classic MLB 22 Sliders
I am happy that they actually gave us the on-screen stat displays using quick counts. Last year, you wouldn’t get their career stats against the pitcher, what they did the game before, or what they are hitting the last so and so games. But this year we get all that now using quick counts.Follow me on Twitch

Re: S & B's Directional/Classic MLB 22 Sliders
First off, I am loving the sliders and am now 41 games into the season (I do hitting only and quick sim pitching).
1.) I trust you guys but I just wanted to make sure that sliders/difficulty settings don't impact quick sim pitching. I have default CPU hitting and default HUM pitching with the difficulty on HOF.
My SPs currently look like this through 41 games
Musgrove: 1.69 ERA
Darvish: 4.24 ERA
Snell: 2.11 ERA
Clevinger: 2.36 ERA
Paddack: 2.86 ERA
I guess I am just getting luck that they are doing so well, but just wanted to double check.
2.) I am currently leading the all of baseball in walks by a significant margin. I am on HOF difficulty and played the first 70% of games with CPU pitch consistency on 5, then the last 30% or so with it on 3.
I have 19 more walks than the second place team in walks through 41 games. Just curious on your thoughts there. I have quick counts on as well. I also rank dead last in strikeouts by a good margin too lol.
Thanks again guys, love your sliders!Comment

You must have a good eye. I’m getting from 4 K to 13 K per game on offense. What is your team batting average? Maybe raise pitch speed?Follow me on Twitch
