Played another game last night. CPU had 11 hits and 6 were doubles. Would timing affect the hit success and placement of computer hits? I was comparing this set to the other sets I've used and the Timing set high seems to be the biggest difference between the 2. I'm going try a game or 2 at 6 or 5 and see if that helps. I haven't seen the crazy strikeout numbers that others are seeing so maybe this could work for me.

Try solid hits down to 3 for cpu. That will for sure lower doubles and increase singles hit. The downside is it may also lower their homeruns hit. To compensate you could raise their power up one more.

I am hitting only at this point, and I hit too many doubles myself. Lowered solid hits to 3 and I really like it. Homeruns have been difficult to hit all year for some reason. Early going but I raised my power up to 7 to see how it goes. Doubles are toned down a bit, but still get plenty with solid hits at 3 myself.

Thanks. I'll give this a try.

I wouldn't say HRs have been hard for me to hit this year but they've definitely been harder, if not impossible to hit with non power hitters. I've hit plenty with players like Harper, Castellanos and Turner. But I only hit 1 with Bryson Stott so far and he had 10 last year and has already hit 5 so far this year.

Played another game on close to default legend, and struck out 7 (and my best starter was going, with a 68 k/9 rating). So in my two major league games pitching on Legend, I'm at 5.5 k/9, CPU is at around a 9.4% whiff rate, and 60.6% contact rate on chases. I also played a minor league game on legend, but the CPU only chased on 7 pitches the entire game, so I'm kinda throwing that one out.

Man that sounds great. Idk, guess it's just a few of us who are having trouble. From the games I tried legend with cpu contact at 6, timing at 9. I didn't have any less Ks in the 5-7 games I tried then. And tbh, I just use API and throw what's called along with location called for at least 90% of the time. I know Bryan does the same, so it's not like we're really putting much thought into pitching and trying really hard to get strikeouts.

It's been a while since I pitched now though. Maybe giving it another go with contact at 6 is worth a shot.

DJ, what exactly are your cpu hitting sliders at? And what about user control and consistency? I'll just try out what you have going when I get the chance to.

I haven't touched the timing slider on legend. Maybe try it at default and only raise contact and power?

If I may ask, when you're pitching, about what percentage of your pitches are in the zone? I'm only curious because I know the CPU on default throws in the zone way too often, and I'd imagine the API follows the same logic.

Right now I have CPU contact at 6, power at 5, timing at 5, foul frequency at 6, solid hits at 4. And my control and consistency are both at 3.

Idk about percentages like that. I'm gonna try those settings you have here. I've always used control 3 and consistency 2 so I'm definitely not in the zone that much. The big difference this year and last is what you were saying about contact % for pitches outside the zone. Legend difficulty will help some.

I think the biggest issue is once you change speeds on the cpu their timing is God awful and that's where strikeouts get out of control. I'll see them early on 98mph. Then late. Then way out in front of a curve for strikeout or something. Last year they just made contact way more on pitches outside the zone so I had to battle for a strikeout.

I don't see it changing anything in regards to Ks, but I will also do testing with quick counts off. Just gonna use random teams. I'll report back after 10 games or so. Probably not until next week unfortunately lol.

I’ve been playing on mostly default legend for pitching with just my consistency at 4. I tried putting the CPU solid hits at 4 for a game to see how they hit. They had 16 strikeouts which was by far the most I’ve ever had in this years cycle on legend. So even though you’d think solid hits would just affect how hard they hit the ball, I think it does more than that and affects their overall approach at the plate.

Sometime for testing purposes I like to go extreme to see influences. I'm curious to try a CPU Contact=10 Solid Hits=0 and then one game CPU Contact=0 Solid Hits=10 and pitch outside the zone to see what kind of chasing the CPU do.

Or maybe it's not the best approach for testing and this is why I'm not a sliders guru in here :-)

That is exactly what I always wondered. Something that we wouldn’t guess would matter. Like JoshC found a couple years ago that he thought the cpu offense would change if you move the steal frequency.

                            I did some research.

My second team is going to be the Toronto Blue Jays.

I am going to play one and sim one for the 162 game season.

                            Playing 81 is good enough.

I've had some decent games, using the V3 sliders, against the Braves without having too many K's from the CPU but it was only a 3 games series, nothing more than that. I have heard the Solid Hits affects K's a while ago but didn't think too much of it. Might experiment around with it too see if it will help
