Are you guys really seeing less strikeouts with user control and consistency at 5 ?

I am I haven’t played this game in a while finally having fun with it again. Use set 2 with 5/5 user pitching & steal base frequency back to 5

It is crazy that we are seeing that. We been testing at 5/5 and found a sweet spot. We tried lowering consistency to 3 and the strikeouts come back. You raise control or consistency to 6 and the strikeouts come back. I played 8 games with this test set and averaged 8.25 K per game. I have always been averaging around 10. Just need to figure out how to tone the offense down a little. Here’s what we are testing using Allstar.

Contact - 10
Power - 4
Timing - 10
Foul - 5
Solid hits - 3 or 4

Yeah sane thing I just play the Yankees with the Phillies and score was 4-3 I only had 7ks the game before was 6 against the rangers

I play on classic pitching on legend and have used default pitching sliders, and it's been great. So I can confirm I've been telling people they should leave those pitching sliders alone.

You won't issue any walks unless you use QC, and even then it's rare. But strikeouts are lower with maxed contact and timing. Lowered consistency, it causes pitches to miss far off target which is what we want to see on a somewhat regular basis from pitch to pitch.

Unfortunately, the cpu (been this way forever) swing at pitches way off target too often. Then at the same time, look at a ball just barely off the plate. It's very odd.

In years past, the cpu would make contact and foul off some of those way off target pitches. This year they are never making contact so it's really increased the strikeouts.

Yeah, I think with any lower pitching control and consistency the cpu batters chase more. I have actually had multiple games where I walked 3-4 batters with default control and consistency.

Yeah same. I'm on legend like I said but I get enough walks on default pitching control and consistency. I dont mean to hijack your thread just trying to help out.

Will we still see double digit K games? I'm nervous to try these with the max Contact and Timing for CPU...

This is Allstar. We haven't tested them on Allstar+ but it could work if you are wanting more of a challenge.

Version 4 is posted on the OP. This should hopefully be the last version of 23 as we feel this is as locked in as we are going to get with these. We FINALLY were able to tone down strikeouts using Allstar. Don't get the contact and timing at 10 scare you off. The lower power and solid hits balances it out. In 16 games, we have averaged 8.6 K per game. We have NEVER had those results in 2023. So we are very hopeful this works. We have tried contact at 9 and you start seeing strikeouts again. We did raise fielder speed to 5 to help control their offense.

Here are the changes we have made.

CPU
Contact: 10
Power: 4
Timing: 10
Solid Hits: 3

User Control: 5
User Consistency: 5

Fielder Speed: 5

User SP Stamina: 6
User RP Stamina: 7

Baserunner Speed: 2 - were seeing too many plays at the plate. Also helps get a little more double plays that will help lower the strikeouts as well.
IF Arm Strength: Lowered to 1. Should be one less than baserunner speed.

We have seen games with 11-12 K per game and some with 4 per game. Strikeout pitchers will still get their K's. But you won't see pitchers like Greinke getting 11 K per game.
