Re: CPU Offensive is atrocious!
OK felllas...Game #2
HOF Level - Classic Pitching (ballmarker on) - Directional Hitting - Broadcast View pitching - Retro Hit Cam - Rosters are SDS (right around a 4/15 update).
Keep in mind league averages are:
15% foul balls p/team
21% swing/miss per team
60-65% Strike %
Ari (Me) at Dodgers (cpu) Gallen vs Gonsolin
Ari 2R 7H 0E 1BB 8K 1 2B
LA 6R 13H 0E 6BB 7K 4 2B 1HR
Ari 59% strike
LA 66% strike
Ari 17% foul
LA 23% foul
Ari 30% swing/miss
LA 14% swing/miss
Notes: LA was hitting the ball hard again (as they should), but this time many went for XBH (that's more like it)
7 and 8 K'S respectively are really good #'s IMO.
Fielding felt organic and nice again, but maybe need to adjust to 4/4.
A couple singles (hit softly) prob shouldn't have made it to the OF.
IMO 5/5/ the fielders are too fast.
Here are the sliders I used:
The only thing I changed from game #1 was instead of the 8/5/8/5/8/ hitting combo, I went with 6/5/6/5/6/ for both squads.
So either 6/5/6/5/6/ or 7/5/7/5/7/ will likely work for most.
I think 8/5/8/5/8 will be too powerful over 162.

Re: CPU Offensive is atrocious!
OK felllas...I invested a couple of hours tonight, dusted off 23 and played a game with the following sliders in a test franchise environment.
HOF Level - Classic Pitching (ballmarker on) - Directional Hitting - Broadcast View pitching - Retro Hit Cam - Rosters are SDS (right around a 4/15 update).
Keep in mind league averages are:
15% foul balls p/team
21% swing/miss per team
60-65% Strike %
Opening Day
Ari (Me) at Dodgers (cpu) Merrill Kelly vs Walker Buehler
Ari 2R 6H 1E 2BB 6K 1 2B, 1 3B
LA 7R 15H 0E 5BB 6K 2 2B
Ari 58% strike
LA 65% strike
Ari 13% foul
LA 9% foul
Ari 30% swing/miss
LA 16% swing/miss
Notes: LA was hitting the ball hard, but way too many singles and not enough gappers (or HR's). My hitting felt pretty good. A few warning track shots and both XBH's were shots down the line.
LA didn't swing and miss very much, but hey, it's the Dodgers.
My complaint with the cpu offense is with all that power, they shouldn't have been singling me to death.
I'll say this... LA wasn't chasing breaking balls out of the zone, and they were much more aggressive in hitters count (which I love).
Another thing that opened my eyes was how organic the fielding felt. I use auto fielding, manual throwing, and with balls hit deep, I held my breath because OF'ers were having to make catches on the run etc. It felt/looked real nice.
Here are the sliders I used:
USER
CONTACT 8
POWER 5
TIMING 8
FOUL 5
SOLID HITS 8
SP STAM 6
RP STAM 6 (I LIKE IT MORE AT 5, BECAUSE A 27 STAMINA RP THREW 42 PITCHES FOR ME AND THAT'S TOO MANY)
PITCH CONTROL 5
PITCH CONSISTENCY 5
CPU
CONTACT 8
POWER 5
TIMING 8
FOUL 5
SOLID HITS 8
SP STAM 5
RP STAM 5
CONTROL 5
CONSISTENCY 5
STRIKE FREQ 5
HOOK 4 CPU MANAGER PULLED PITCHERS AT APPROPRIATE TIME IMO
PICKOFF 4 (TRYING TO MIMIC TODAY'S THROW-OVER RULES TO SOME EXTENT)
GLOBAL
FB PITCH SPD 6
OFFSPEED PITCH SPD 6
FIELD ERROR IF 4
FIELD ERROR OF 4 (OUTFIELD PLAY SAW MORE SUCCESSFUL DIVING ATTEMPTS THEN WHAT I USED TO SEE AT 5)
THROW ERRORS IF 6 (I HAD 1 THROWING ERROR FROM A POORLY RATED 2B WHO THREW FROM DEEP IN THE HOLE, SO THAT FELT RIGHT TO ME.
THROW ERRORS OF 6
FIELD RUN SPEED 3
FIELD REACTION 3
FIELD ARM STRENGTH IF 5
FIELD ARM STRENGTH OF 5
BASERUNNER SPEED 4
BASERUNNING STEAL ABILITY 9 (WE ALL KNOW WITH HOW POORLY MOST PLAYERS ARE RATED IN THIS CATEGORY THEY NEED HELP)
BASERUNNING STEAL FREQ 8 (TRYING TO MIMIC TODAY'S MLB WHERE RUNNERS ARE ATTEMPTING SB ALOT
WIND 5
INJURY 7
SIM INJURY 7
TRADE 2 (TILL JULY, THEN MOVE IT TO 3) I ALSO MOVE IT TO 3 DURING WINTER MEETINGS WEEK.
Well, there you have it. Maybe 7/5/7/5/7/ is slightly better than 8/5/8/5/8 for hitting? Hard to say w/o a larger sample size.
Let me know how it goes, if you give these a spin. I think you'll be happy with the fielding. Now if the engine would just give "us" just a slightly better 1B, 2B, 3B, HR ratio.

Re: CPU Offensive is atrocious!
Tried your sliders. Loved the way offense felt. Pitching was another story. I got absolutely LIT. UP. I must be playing a different game than everyone else because I haven't seen the high strikeout totals (If anything I feel like they're lower) and if CPU timing is above 5 I can't get anyone out.Comment

I squeezed in two more games and 6/5/6/5/6 just "feels" right, and it is giving me the foul%, swing & miss % and K #'s I've been looking for.

Re: CPU Offensive is atrocious!
I had the CPU sliders at 8/5 like you had in the post. Maybe I'll try lowering all the 8s to 6sComment

Re: CPU Offensive is atrocious!
Thought I would try these with the 6/5/6/5/6 with HOF using quick counts. Played as the Cubs against the Cardinals. I struck them out 17 times while giving up 11 hits. They only had 7 batted outs. So it felt like hits or strikeouts. I’ll try these in another game.Follow me on Twitch

Re: CPU Offensive is atrocious!
Maybe Quick counts adds to the K problem?
Not "tested" w/ quick counts, so they may not "work" at all w/ that setting.
How did the fielding/running feel?

Re: CPU Offensive is atrocious!
Give em hell boys.
Not trying to hijack a slider set or say what I came up with is better/worse than others....Just trying to add value.
Still think 20 has best hitting engine and widest range of score outcomes, but for those that are driven to make 23 work....my hats off to ya.

Re: CPU Offensive is atrocious!
It felt good. Maybe 4 would be a little better. But I still seen infield diving plays that were outs. Didn’t really see any hits that shouldn’t have been. Seee one play down the line that the fielder tried to backhand to keep it from going to the corner and missed it and had to chase it. So that was cool. A lot of hard hit balls too.
Now the first game I was just tapping the x to pitch. The next game i held down the x until right before the vibrate and I pitched with the Cardinals against the Cubs and had 9 K. Mikolas had 6 K in 7 IP and they had 8 hits.
Played one inning wjth the Dodgers franchise with these and Kershaw had 0 K in the first inning. So maybe tapping had something to do with it.
Was falling asleep so I couldn’t play anymore or I would fall asleep hitting. Who has done that and struck out? LolFollow me on Twitch

I DON'T think 5/5 is the way to go with those 2 sliders...better animations and more organic play with it lower than default.
I think TNK plays with it at 2/3 or 3/2...so I am not crazy with my line of thinking.

Re: CPU Offensive is atrocious!
I played a string of games earlier in the week using Quick Counts for the first time this year. I would say I definitely saw more strikeouts on both sides. For me batting, I'm sure it was because I'm used to working the count. But the CPU was definitely striking out more. They also seemed to be getting more hits too compared to when I was using the same sliders without Quick Counts.Comment
