Doing what I always do and running with the 2018 Cubs on all defaults and playing it until it gets painfully slow on my crappy laptop a few seasons in.

First season was okay, we won 96 games and Rizzo won the MVP, but the ****ing Cardinals somehow ended a game ahead of us. A 2-out error with the bases loaded in the 7th blew the game open against Arizona in the Wild Card, ending our season.

Decided to go extremely bold (and a lil unrealistic) and found trades for Addy Russell and J-Hey, before locking up KB and signing Bryce Harper and Manny Machado. Joe Maddon then decided to retire, so we picked up Peoria, IL native Joe Girardi as our new skipper.

Off to a decent start of 2019, but the ****ing Cardinals are 5 games ahead of us.

Obviously it is still "beta," so I expect the ****ing Cardinals to be nerfed for the next patch.

Damn. First day of simming to Opening Day as 2018 Oakland A's and Mike Hazen (D'Backs GM) is trying hard to trade me Jarrod Dyson. I be like, didn't you just acquire that man? The anatomy of a trade talk...

1. Hazen offers Dyson to me for OF Jake Smolinski + last year's 3rd round pick SS Nick Allen.
2. I counter with Dyson for Smolinski straight up and also the D'Backs send me $500,000 because Dyson makes $3,500,000 and Smolinski makes jack. Hazen says let me think, bro.
3. While considering that counter, Hazen sends me another Dyson offer--this time for SP Daniel Mengden + SP A.J. Puk....LOL. Don't make me force retire you, Mike Hazen...
4. Hazen says nope to Dyson for Smolinski straight up, but gives me a list of players that would make the deal work. I quickly check to see if any of them make any money and see...Jed Lowrie on the list. What would the A's season be without trading for Lowrie or dealing him away?
5. I add Lowrie and his 1 yr/$6MM deal to sweeten. Hazen seems to like it. So I also ask him to retain 50% of Dyson's salary this year. Hazen doesn't even blink. That's $1.8MM more coming my way.
6. David Forst, my assistant, isn't too hot for this deal, but if the A's can get Dyson, trade no prospects away, and shed $5.25MM in the process, they're gonna do it. Get with the program.
7. I see Wilmer Flores is on waivers...hmmm the Mets are being cheap again. So I grab Wilmer for $3.4MM to replace Lowrie at 2B. Always thought he'd make a good AL player.

In other news, the Cardinals have already re-acquired Mike Leake from Seattle. Couldn't stand to live without him apparently. Seattle gets 1B Luke Voit and OF Oscar Mercado. No cash involved.

They released beta yesterday morning. It was available to pre-order customers.

From OOTP website:

Q: Is there a Steam pre-order available?
A: No, the game is only available to pre-order as the eSellerate version from our webstore. But it can be added as an external game to your Steam library after release. The game launches on Steam March 22 with a 10% launch discount.

Had been watching every single game in my Yankees save. Got to the last series of May and the game crashed. I hadn't saved so the last save point was May 1. I didn't feel like watching through all those games again so I simmed through and didn't stop.

At the ASB, we were 61-35, 1st in the division by 13 over Boston. We were "only" 3rd in RS but, of course, 1st in HR. We were 1st in RA. Severino Sanchez Walker Gregorius and Stanton were our All Stars. Judge is having a down year so he didn't make it.

It's the end of July and we swung for the fences in our only trade.

We get: 2018 All Star James Paxton from Seattle
They get: Andujar, Wade, Albert Abreu and Chance Adams.

Miggy, Wade and Adams were all on the big league team and playing well. Paxton had a good outing in his Yankee debut and I really hope he keeps it up. Giving up Miggy really hurt and I didn't want to lose Wade and Adams but Paxton steps in as our new #1. (3.00 ERA before we traded for him.)

The Mariners are 47-56, 11 games out of the division and 6.5 games back in the WC race. So, I felt like they would be sellers IRL. I looked around the league and Paxton was the only real difference maker available IMO. There were some other options but they had big contracts that extended multiple seasons. Paxton is in his arbitration years so it's up to me whether or not I keep him long term. Overall, I'm happy with the trade on paper. My scout wasn't high on Adams and I felt like it was worth it to give up Miggy/Wade. I really hope I'm right and that Paxton doesn't let me down because this was painful.

We are now 68-36, still 14 games up on Boston (55-51, 2nd WC.) To make up for losing Wade/Miggy, I plan on calling Torres up in early August.

Created a fictional 24 team league with 3 divisions of 8 that play 72 games. Made it to have something that plays out on one monitor while I do work on my other one. In the first season it had a player hit for the triple crown. He had a .412 average, 30 HRs, and 80 RBIs. After simming the regular season I watched a playoff game and a half pitch by pitch before calling it a night. I'm going to waste too much time watching games.

playing with the 2018 Twins. Started 1-4 but won 3 in a row and am at 4-4 now. Mauer has a 1.0 OPS.

I have to say, the 3D improvements are much welcomed

Awesome addition: I got a story that says Neil Walker told reporters he doesn't care if the team wins or loses. Two days later, I get a message saying "action needed: NY players not pleased with selfish player." The message says the manager has received complaints and this could affect team morale. I have the option to do nothing, release Walker or suspend him five games. This game is amazing.

Also, since joining us, Paxton is 4-0 with 40 Ks, only 3 walks and a .50 ERA!

Edit: ironically, Walker went down with a high ankle sprain on the day of his suspension and he'll miss 4 weeks.

Signed Cobb, inserted him into the roation. First start is at Fenway. Goes 7.1 strong is leading 4-2 when he suffers a strained forearm will keep him out for about 2 weeks....won the game tho. Rotation is a dumpster fire.

Just got into my Brewers Franchise for the first time last night. I play as GM only, but still play the games and determine strategy within games. I'm really digging the new player animations, they're obviously not detailed, but still add quite a bit to the feel of the game. Only got 2 games in, 1-1 so far.

I'm going to try and find a way to move Cain and Braun around the deadline for some cheap pitching so I can bid on Harper in the off-season. Team's are usually pretty smart about not taking on huge contracts with aging players so i'm thinking this will be difficult.

Dabbled in OOTP 18 last year towards the end of the year, and was overwhelmed and punted. This year I plan on grabbing it so I can play during breaks in class.

Will be GM of the Buccos and try my best to stick to the Pirates way, develop players and trade them before they're a free agent. Been reading a lot on here about hiding ratings and I think that sounds awesome. I've always wished games would add this setting.

I'll get my gameplay from the show, and general management from OOTP.
