Regretfully, I didn't notice the subtleties you listed because I couldn't get past the batter/pitcher interface. I didn't feel like I was really hitting ....

Hopefully they will improve this year and I can see what you are talking about....

Pigpen, that's odd for me because I felt hitting and pitching in ASB was handled very realistically and is very challenging. When you face a guy like Randy Johnson or Pedro Martinez, you really knew you were in for a long night of going to the plate and just swinging at air hoping to just get a peice of the ball. I thing they did a good job in this area...it feels very authentic. However, there are still some quirks to work out but I can see how some people can be frustrated with it because it demands split second timing reaction and a bit of location guess work. Which is very true in baseball.

As for the Batting cursor, I love it and cant understand how people prefer a cursorless batting system. The cursor simulates the placement of the bat which yields a much greater variety of contact and hit results that are result of your input rather than relying on timing alone.

When you swing a bat, it requires placement as well as timing to make contact. I think it is incorporated very well in ASB because the high pitch speed and slower cursor movement doesnt allow you to go crazy with arcade-like cursor precision tactics ( like missile command )..... plus it still forces you to guess locations on fastballs to have a chance at making contact.

Hey DS, I hope they fixed that glitch in the LH batters, you know the one where ya have to swing extremely late to pull the ball to RF! That really bugged the $hit me

Re: WOW...I almost FORGOT why I LOVED ASB so much...

Its interesting to see this post. I did the same thing, although I rented it as I bought WS last year. I rented it because of the high praise it has been getting namely in GI. I was really fond of the create team and franchise mode. So today I popped it in and what I noticed was that on managerial mode, you can not select a steal. Does anyone know if this has been remedied. It may have been posted and if so forgive me but the info is a little hard to keep track of and keep from blending with other games. I was a little discoureaged to see it was a 20 season mode. I suspect if they fix the little things such as the stealing from last year the only deal breaker would be the 20 seasons. Also, does anyone happen to know if there will be a greater variety of face types in create a player? It makes little sense to scan all those faces then have all the new/created players look the same. I have to say Im really intriqued by the stadiums and I think its likely I will get ASB then if rent WS and if I like WS better Ill trade ASB in.

                                BDoughty--
It seems to me that there was a list at one time which was a sticky that had the expected features for the variety of games coming out. Would this have been deleted or between pages 42 and 127? If you or anyone could find this I think a lot of people would appreciate it and it may prevent duplicated and unnecessary threads.
