Bought it, Played it, returning it. It's dissapointing. I expected something more. And from what I've seen, it's still a homer fest, I hit 2 in each of the first 3 innings of the 3 games I've played so far. I am going with WSB, MVP and HH. THis game isnrt worth it.

The gameplay is untouched, literally. And no IGN is not off, and in their opinion they aren't off, it's their opinion, it doesn't "suck", it's just what they happen to think, and obviously yours is different. Tha gameplay wasnt very good last year and it still isnt very good this year. And no I don't review games for IGN, I am just really dissapointed. All the great features are nice but the gameplay is what counts.

Re: All Star Baseball... First Impressions & Questions for those with the game

Yes....Ive seen both CPU and myself draw walks...Guru seems to be right about reworking the pitching logic to play more intelligently, it may be a subtle change for some but its there....I have seen longer pitch counts

To answer the fella that asked about the IGN gameplay rating of 6.......without a doubt its better than a 6.

So far I'd say it could be anywhere between an 8.0 and 8.5 but its still too early to tell. After playing quite a few more games this first impression rating of JUST the ONFIELD GAMEPLAY could go up or could go down based on what I see in further games......ASB was always a game that had subtle things in it that took some time to surface and really appreciate. I only played one game and if you want to throw that out to the boards that I rated the gameplay an 8.5 from my initial impressions, go right ahead...I'm really enjoying the variety and the tweaking of all the little things that were wrong with last years game. People who know me around OS know that when it comes to Sports Games, I am a huge critic and will not leave any stone unturned when I give impressions of a game and I have absolutely no allegiance to any company but rather to the game that can deliver the goods. Plain and simple.

IGN has no sports gaming credentials as far as im concerned after reading that review...they didnt back up anything they said with any specific solid gameplay examples except for the constant throwing to the plate which, in my opinion is not a huge problem but rather a game reviewers own blunder....This has not been a problem for me at all, plus they didnt mention any of the nice little gameplay details that i have noticed. ASB has a lot of tweaks here and there that add up and make a difference...For the IGN reviewer not to see or mention that troubles me.

So far I really like what I see and I had various issues with last years game. To the fella that just played, returned it and wasnt enjoying it, I'd really love to know what it is you are looking for in a baseball video game?

              Dick,

I agree with your assessment. I enjoyed ASB last year and this year's game is at least a major improvement gameplay wise. I agree with your initial assessment of 8.5 on gameplay alone.

I, too, am very critical of gameplay and AI snafus. This is not perfect, but head and shoulders better than what we got last year from ASB. I have not even been able to touch any of the other features in the game, so I am only talking about the on the field stuff here.

My assessment - if you like solid on field gameplay that is not "over the top" in any areas, this is a must buy. If you enjoyed last year's game, this is a must buy. I don't know why the IGN guy rated it what he did, but I could not disagree more.

For the record, I do hope WSB and MVP blow this away. Only because that makes it so much better for all of us. I want them all to do well.

Get the game...you won't be disappoited and you won't be hitting 5 hrs a game.

Are there asian faces in the create-a-player mode? Just curious because I would love to create any Asian players like Matsui.

Also, thanks guys for the great impressions, the game sounds great!

Oh, and anyone who has seen the all-star game, can you check to see if there's a Futures game because I've heard alot of rumors about this feature.

I just don't like the way the game plays. I'm just not impressed. I look for gameplay well like HHs, or WSBs. The biggest thing is batting. I don't like it at al,l I tried classic, picthing is too fast for that, easy batting is boring, zone is what I use most but I dont even get how it works, and the regular one is a little difficult for me, I'm just not a good guesser I guess. I honestly dont know how to describe it but I'm not having fun. I'll keep at it until March 3 or 4th when HH comes out. Hopefully I'll change my mind.
