    Power Pros sounds really cool.

It'll be interesting to see exactly how the Wii version works out.

I don't think the lock-on at the highest level would really work as a timing-based hitting system.

Timing still takes into account a player's ratings to determine where the ball hit the bat.

With a cursor it looks like you'll always have the ball hit the sweet spot of the bat thus making the highest level of lock-on too easy.

It's still a nice feature but I don't think it'll net realistic results if people used it because they didn't want to hit with a cursor.

Not really.......the sweet spot depends on the player batting rating. Like a pitcher with a F or G rating will have a small cursor while someone like A-rod will have a big cursor.

Also, you can switch to power cursor or contact cursor anytime you want.

Also, you can always change the speed of the ball to to realistic where the ball will come to home plate real fast.

I'm wondering if this game might convince me to purchase a Wii.

I'm a HUGE baseball fan and own a 360 as of this moment. Never really felt MLB2k7, although I hear the patch improved a lot of things. Still though, it didn't immerse me like I hoped it would.

Is it crazy to think that this could be a system seller? I'm pretty much a sports gamer only, although I do like quirky, different style games (not big on the Halo, GOW, type games).

I can see myself picking up a Wii (with Wii Sports of course), Metroid Prime and Power Pros. I have high hopes for this one!!!

I understand that but what does lock-on do then?

If it locks on to the ball then it's going to lock-on to the spot the ball meets the sweet spot of the batting cursor.

I don't see how it would be any different. So if you make lock-on easier so that it locks-on without you having to move the cursor then it won't be a realistic time-based hitting system.

But you won't always be hitting the ball at the sweet spot if your timing is way off, even if your bat is in the right position, right? Also, depending on the location of the pitch and the spin of the ball, even with perfect timing you may end up hitting a weak grounder or a pop-up, so you still need to worry about what to swing at.

Yea, I know. Those are givens.

I'm just talking about during the swings that everything is lined up.

It just won't be the same as a true time-based system.

The gameplay vids still have me confused about just what control options will be available. I didn't think that regular games would use the Wiimote for swinging. I really hope that the option of just using a GC controller is available.

How I understand it from what I read is that you can either use the Wiimote ala wii sports style(swing the wiimote, etc..) or you can use the wiimote & nunchuck like a standard game. For example you'd swing with the 'A' button, use the analog on the nunchuck to field, etc..

Are we able to use the classic controller? That's what I want.

Wiimote-only controls are just for the party modes. In the screenshot below, you can see multiple controller support for the other game modes (nunchuck+wiimote combo, classic, Gamecube).

any idea how the pitching works, is it classic style where you point and press with variability built in ala hh or is it a meter

I certainly haven't seen a meter in any of the videos.

XiaNaphryz, I really have to thank you for your threads. I've known about Pawapuro games for a couple of years now but have never imported. I never imagined that they would release the game here until I first read the news months ago on another site. But since then, there has been little news and a couple of videos.

I appreciate the wealth of knowledge that you have organized and shared. Not that I needed any convincing to buy the game, but I'm even more excited after reading the info.
