Re: Official MLB Power Pros thread!

It looks like a quick game to play from the videos anyway. Not many cut scenes, pitching meters, etc....

With regards to old fans of the series getting tired of it- sounds like it could be similar to the Winning Eleven series. Even last year's 360 version would be great to someone who had never played the series before. Hopefully Power Pros is like that.

Yea, the videos make the game appear to be a quick play.

As soon as a pitch is thrown the pitcher is ready to throw again. That's what the videos show at least.

And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

You could bust out a full game around 30-45 minutes, so you can play 2-3 games in one hour and a half.

The graphics are simple for that reason and the loading time should be quite quick.

And it makes season mode playable to ACTUALLY finish from start to finish and not have to go through months just to finish 1 season.

My concern deals with the rosters.........I heard it stopped at June...that's not good considering the numerous trades.

Yeah, I saw it - it's been changed on Gamestop too. Doesn't make any sense though - that's a Wednesday.

Ya - so we can pretty much assume that it won't be in stores until Thursday.

Oh well - at least it hasn't been delayed indefinitely or anything like that.

As long as I get it in time to start hitting bp on the Wii come the end of October.

I'm not as concerned about rosters if they're from mid-season - all the trade deals we can fix ourselves by moving players around. It's player stats/attributes I'm more worried about, as there's less of a chance we can easily fix those.

I'm prepared to live with it though, as I did with last year's game...

I'm going to try and score an early copy from my source tomorrow. Same shop I got Madden and NCAA on the Friday before release. I'd love to have this tomorrow night so I can play after work.

Yeah, we got one of those kinda places here in Brooklyn. I'm gonna try and do the same. As far as the release/ship date being on a wednesday..I've noticed some shops sometimes posting the date they expect to receive it as opposed to the ship date. I'm literally marking off the days on my calendar.

Are their games 9 inning games?

Do they have a regular season mode?

Man if you play 9 innings on the wii, that's gonna be a nice workout!

On a different note, has anyone had any experience with the Pro Yakyuu Spirits games? They're also made by the Pawapuro group, I think it plays like the Pawapuro games (just with a more realistic graphics engine.)

2K should drop their baseball game and pick up this one.

So, no online play? I'm much more concerned about roster updates than like... online play itself.

If you're hoping for a roster update then I think you're going to be incredibly disappointed. Not only do I doubt there will ever be one but all accounts of previous editions of this game indicate the rosters are awful. It's only $30 though, $40 on the Wii. I'm viewing this game as a what you see is what you get.
