this is just a very quick impression of the Wii version....this game has one MAJOR issue...and it certainly (to me anyway) is a game killer.

From what I can tell (and please tell me if I am wrong)....you can only use the wiimote to pitch and swing in exhibition and/or HR derby mode. Also...you do not field...just hit and pitch...just like Wiisports. Its cool b/c you can play a 9 inning game with the real players...but that is a HUGE issue.

How can they not let you swing/pitch with the wiimote in season/success mode? Who thought of that?

You hit with the A/B button only during hitting....

The manual is very indept so maybe (HOPEFULLY) I am missing something.

If anyone else has the wii version...please check on this. But to repeat...you can only use the wiimote to hit/pitch in 2 modes...

BTW, I read some pages in this thread and would like to give a definitive answer to the person who asked how long the average game is. The average game in Pawapuro is between 20 and 30 minutes. 20 being Mark Buehrle and 30 being that classic 13 inning game last night. It's definitely more convenient than Pro Yakyu Spirits, which is more like an American game, and lasts around 45-60 minutes for a full game. Despite the shortened average game time, you don't feel cheated at all. It's pretty great.
You could've just said Steve Trachsel.

I figured this would be a lot quicker game from watching the pawapuro videos on youtube, nice to get a definite answer though.

I think we've brought this up in the thread a few times that it's very likely Wiimote only controls are only going to be available in the party modes.

What most likely happened was that Konami simply ported over their GC engine and slapped on the Wiimote party stuff because they didn't have enough time to properly implement a Wiimote only control scheme for the deeper game modes.

Which is fine with me. I hate the Wii-mote as a gimmick for the sake of being a gimmick. Give me standard console baseball game controls with the Cube controller and I'm a happy Lomb.

So can you play the game with a classic control setup using the Wiimote?

Funny story. I went to a BB close to my work over lunch. They told me it should be coming in about 1pm. After work I stopped back in and they told my it would be in Thursday. On the way home I stopped by a second BB, and that one had it sitting on the shelf.

I'm just about to pop the disc in. I already like it though. The manual is over 50 pages Oh, and there is a dream draft (fantasy draft) option for season. WOOT!!

I have been following this myself. All of the previews have said that you can only use the Wii-mote in exhibition and home run derby. My question is the fielding controls and throwing controls. I swear I saw on the one video that you could use the Wii-mote to make your fielder run after a ball. How does the fielding work then? Does the game field and throw automatically for you?

Hit my first homeruns! I 3 run shot with Giambi, and a solo shot with Posada. This is on normal mode, but I've been playing this series for a while.

Well, now that the game's officially getting out to people, I cancelled my Amazon order and went for Gamestop, which has the usually ships in 24 hours message. I should have it by Thursday now, and I probably won't find it in stores around here any sooner than that.

Enjoy the game, those who have it!
