High Heat 2004 Anything & Everything Thread

I know there are some of us who are still (or going to be) playing High Heat 2004, so this thread is to post anything you want regarding HH 2004. Doesnt matter if its stories about your franchise, gameplay settings, roster discussions or whatever it may be, feel free to post it here.

I'll probably start posting in this thread once I get my new copy in the mail. Hopefully this thread wont die on the vine. Anyway, High Heat away people

Great idea. I'm going to run down to gamestop today and pick up a copy for my PS2. I'll probably be posting in this thread from time to time.

Is there anyway to convert the pc rosters and dowload them using my xsata. I did this with NFL 2k5, I am playing it on my 360. I have the program loaded on my laptop , and if there is anyway to do it, i will try to make it happen.

okay, seeing as there is some interest in the HH series again, i'll post up the readme i made regarding the slider settings i used for the PC version (keep in mind though that the pc version had a tune file i used to edit as well for gameplay changes, so these might not be perfect for the console version).

        Slider settings
The way I designed both the tune and animDB file was in sync with the slider settings. Everyone is welcome to try whichever settings they find is best, but I tested the game with these specific settings for the best results. Below is a list of what I would like you to change your sliders to. Note: all values are starting from 0 being the slider bar completely empty from the left
Ex, hitting power being 1 means only one click from left, so most of the bar would be completely empty

        Run Speeds
        CPU B.R.S. – 6
        CPU F.S. - 5
        HUM B.R.S. – 6
        HUM F.S. - 5

        Throwing Speed
        -all set at 5
        Misc
        E.F. – 5
        I.F. – 6
        P.C. – 8
        P.C.S. – 2
        P.F. - 6
        Pitch Speeds
-all set to 8 except fastball set to 7. (globally speeds up pitches)
        Batting
CPU Hit - 4 after playing several years into franchise, I have lowered this to 3 I believe
        CPU Pow -4
HUM Hit -5 after playing several years into franchise, I have lowered this to 4 I believe
        HUM Pow -5
Foul Ball -7 6 also is a good setting
        Hum Contact Ease - 5

***Game simulation speed always set to 8 when I play***

If you do have a choice between console and pc version, i highly recommend the pc version since it is a lot easier to use files and mod the game for everything from sounds, graphics, rosters, to gameplay. If you are looking to buy either 04 or 03, i'd go with 04 for several reasons. In 2003 the game had some throwing bug of sorts where teh throw from second base came in really weak, making double plays really difficult to pull off. Also, there was a foul ball bug where the ball would be recorded as a HR when it was foul and lastly a bug where a run would count from 3rd even if there were two outs and the third out recorded on a force play. 04 is the way to go from what i remember.

Keirik: Do you remember what the "Recommended System Requirements" were for High Heat 2004 on PC? My computer is fairly old and I'm wondering if HH 2004 would run smoothly on it.

          Thanks.

Picked up the PS2 version from Gamestop this morning for $2.99.

Played an exhibition game this morning, Philadelphia vs Montreal. Gotta love they still have the Vet in the game! I ended up losing 7-6, but both teams had a ton of hits 20 for Montreal, and 17 for myself. I was playing on the "pro" level. Also, no homeruns. Is this normal? Should I be playing at a different level? Maybe some sliders?

I'd like to get my season started, but I'll wait until I hear from you guys regarding game settings.

Just played my first game in about 2 months it was Yankees at Cubs(me). I won the game 1-0.
              Kerry Wood pitched a GC 7 IP, 7k, 5 BB, 3Hits 109 Pitches.
If I could only find my Maxdrive and update the rosters I would play a season.
Don't you EVER read my blog? It's gotten a lot better.

It's on the Ps2 on All Star.

From default Running Speed I left them same.
I increase the Fielders throwing speeds by 1 click.
                  Human contact I decrease 1
Human and CPU Contact or hitting(can't remember what is called), I decrease 1
                  Power I left the same.
                  Pitch Count increased 2
                  fatigue I decrease 1
                  Foulball I increase 2
                  Game simulation I increased 3

Thanks Miget. Did you get these from somewhere, or are these your own sliders?

Also, the version that I picked up today didn't come with an instruction guide. Should I hold the d-pad up to hit more home runs, or press another button while swinging? If I recall, there's only one swing button, unlike some games where there's a 'normal' and 'power' swing button. I like the one button approach because I think it's more realistic.

Here is a link where you can download the Playstation 2 manual for High Heat 2004: http://www.replacementdocs.com/download.php?view.4279

HH has "zone hitting" so you want to aim the analog stick/direction pad in the direction the pitch is coming. For example, if it's a high fastball you want to push up and swing, if it's low you want to press down and swing. Whether you hit a grounder or fly ball will depend on pitch type, location, swing timing and your batter's attributes

Thanks for the reply. So if I just hit the button and don't aim where the pitch is, I'm hurting myself, right?

Just got done my second game, 4-2 win against the Cubs. I used the sliders posted above. Was down 2-0 going into the top of the 9th when the Cubs brought in Mike Reimlinger. Big Mistake. Polanco worked the count and ended up getting a single, he walks Thome, Burrell hits a bases clearing double. A few batters later and it's 4-2. I bring in Mesa for a 1,2,3 bottom of the 9th, and I escape with a 4-2 win.

I think I'm about ready to start my Franchise.

                            Hey, Fellas,
Can I join the party? Still working on updating rosters manually. I don't get much time to do my gaming, so this is going to take a while. I'm basically going one team at a time and looking for the glaring changes that need to be made like Zito to San Fran. So far my Mets are done, Expos are ready, Braves are ready Yankees and Bosox pretty much done, too.
I'm going with a 54 game schedule and my opening night is set for April 4th. Until then it's rosters and batting practice. My settings are basically what Keirik posted. But I have different settings for home and road games. If CPU setting is at 4 for home games, let's say, it goes up by one for road games and if my setting is at 5 for home, it decreases by one for a road game. If anyone is interested, I'll post them next time, but they really are very close to Keirik's.
That scoring bug IS in 2004. If there is a man on third with two outs and that runner got on by being hit by a pitch and the CPU makes the third out, his run counts. Obviously this is terribly wrong. There is a code that you can enter and you can edit the score properly. The run doesn't count, but your pitcher is still charged with the run. This was a gamebreaker for me until I discovered the code.
Let's keep this thread going. I know I'll keep posting and boring you guys with my incessant game reports and observations. Glad to see you guys enjoying a great baseball game. And even though I never rooted for them, I kinda like having the Expos back, too.
                            See you guys later.

Welcome! By the looks of it, we'll probably have a few franchises this summer.

Thanks for the heads-up on the bug. I think I'll just go with it. I don't hit too many batters, so I can see this turning into about 5-10 runs over a season for me, not a huge deal.
