Pudge has loaded his 2008 roster set for HH2k4 to his webpage. These are the best rosters around. He says that he will be adding photo files and 2007 historial stats soon. Go to www.theperfectgame.net forums for more updates from Pudge.

Won the first game of my season 3-2 against the expos

Pitching did good, fielding errors almost cost me though.

So I am not much of a baseball guy, but I picked up the Xbox version at Gamestop for $3 and I will tell you all what I think.

          To be continued......

Dont expect to be blown away by great graphics or presentation because this game wont do it, but the gameplay is top notch with an old school feel to it.

Re: High Heat 2004 Anything & Everything Thread

                Hey, fellas,
The Kodiak HH League got underway about an hour ago. Mets (me) vs. Expos at Shea. Not a good start for Johan. Leadoff single to Guzman and then LoDuca (as if scripted by the baseball gods) cracks a home run and it's 2-0 after two batters!!!!!Expos ended up sending 10 men to the plate and scored 6 runs. I think my problem was that I have pitch count lowered by one click and they swing at more pitches. Couple that with the fact that I kept forgetting to throw out of the strike zone and I totally stunk up the joint. Santana gave up 7 runs in 4 innings. My offense was really good, but not alot of clutch hitting. We got 15 hits, but could only get 4 runs. And how often do you draw a bases loaded walk in a video baseball game? Brian Schneider did for me. Final score was 7-4 Expos. I ended up with one extra base hit, an RBI double by Wright. Expos had 5 doubles, a triple and a home run. If you fellas are not getting extra base hits against you, just ask me to call the pitches! My settings were as follows:
                Pitch Speeds (all) - 7
                CPU Hitting - 3
                Human Hitting - 3
                Power(Both) - 6
                Foul Balls - 6
                Catcher Throw speed(Both) - 3
                Pitch Count - 4
                Pitch Control - 6
Everything else was at default. Simulation setting was at 7. I think that is it.
Tomorrow, I have El Duque going against Patterson. I am going to move hitting down a notch to see if I can get a little less offense. I prefer a 2-1 game to a 10-9 game. I may also tinker with Pitcher Fatigue. Both starters were gassed early. Santana had the yellow bar by 46 pitches and Redding got about 52. Does that sound right to you guys or is that too soon? I'll think about it. Maybe give it another game or two. It's easy to overthink with the sliders. Just shut up and play, right.
Well, that's about it from here. Time to settle in and check out some real baseball.

Re: High Heat 2004 Anything & Everything Thread

Game 2 of the Kodiak League. El Duque vs. John Patterson. Lowered the hitting slider for each by one. Had a pretty good game. The CPU is killing me with flairs to the outfield. Tied at 2 in the sixth. Montreal gets two on with two out. Belliard batting eigth hits a roller to short. Reyes goes to second for the force, but the runner is safe. Should have thrown to first. Ok, bases loaded two out for the pitcher. El Duque gets the count to 1-2. Patterson hits the next pitch and it drops into right for a bases clearing double. This is an at-bat I'm going to lose sleep over. We got a run in the 7th to make it 5-3. My bullpen holds, but we can't do anything else. Final - Montreal 5 New York 3.
The game is playing pretty good. I'm relatively happy with my settings. Gotta learn to pitch a little better. And need to stop those little dinkers to the OF. I'm happy with my offense sliders. Extra base hits seem right on. Pitcher fatigue was good tonight. Moved it to 4 but may put it back. Patterson went into the 7th with 92 pitches and the bar was still green. The gameplay has been great. Very happy with the season so far. Hope you guys are happy, too. This really is one great game! Can't wait for the next game. Gotta get off the schneid!!!

I've finally given up - I just can't get enough hit types.. I'm going back to ActionPC (Text sim) and start a 2008 season.

Thanks for the link. I've read alot of your posts regarding HH and ASB. I know you are a pretty serious roster man. Thanks to you (and all) for the links to the rosters.

I'm actually seeing a decent amount of hit types. What types of hits do you feel the game is lacking?

My pitching got rocked (Russ Ortiz, 6 runs in two innings) in the second game of my season and it was mostly from what seemed to be cheap hits (flairs) by the cpu. I'm not going to mess with my settings though, I'm just going to try and mix my pitches up better.

                                The Show PS3.

Still have HH2k4, but I had a computer motherboard problem. Replaced the motherboard and HH was running slow, so I uninstalled it. Played that game to death. I'm on Pudge's email list so he still sends me updates when he does his roster. That's one loyal roster maker right there.

You know there are sound edits too. I found all the references to Montreal/Expos in the sound file and a guy helped me and we put Washington Nationals in the game. I think the file is still over at perfectgame.net website. As I remember we took a snip from "National League" edited it and the announcer said "Washington National". Close enough.
