Re: High Heat 2004 Anything & Everything Thread

so based on the reviews and write ups recently about how high heat 2004 was a realistic game, I went and picked one up at a game stop for 3.99.
What a waste of money. how can you all play this game after playing titles like MVP baseball, MLB the SHOW, and the 2K series.

I couldnt even get through 1/2 an inning. its just awkward. The load time was ridiculously slow. I quickley went back to MLB The Show.

maybe Ill give it another try.

Everybodys idea of whats realistic differs from one person to the next. My idea of realism is having stats that resemble real life and you can definitely get that with High Heat 2004.

I've have never played another baseball game where I could play the games out myself and get ultra realistic stats. Most baseball games you have to sim or play MoM for that to happen.

If realistic graphics, sig stances/windups, and player faces is what makes a game realistic to you, then you will be REALLY disappointed in this game.

I say give it a few more tries because this is the kind of game that can grow on you.

To paraphrase Mickey Mantle, I agree with everything BSB said.
No, the graphics and sig stances/windups are not there, the rosters are way outdated, and there aren't alot of bells and whistles. In my opinion, I think this plays a realistic style of baseball. And you don't have to sit there tweaking sliders to make it do the things you want because it's already there.
If you don't like the game, it's cool. Everyone has their own tastes. But for me, I am happy with the game and enjoy the crap out of it.
Like BSB said, give it a few more looks - half an inning is not much to judge. At first glance, this game does look terrible. But once you get into it and get a good feel for the game's engine, it may just surprise you. And if not, that's fine too.

Well since were kinda on the subject of stances and windups....does anyone have any edits that make players look a little more like their real life counterparts that they would like to share?

the game play was just awkward. The best way I can describe it is comparing MLB2k3 with MLB 2K5. the way the batter swings in 2k3 is strange.

Im not one who gets caught up in how a player looks and the little details like Tatoos, I like fluid gameplay, that gives me realistic stats.

So the problem with High Heat upon first playing it is that its not fluid. even if you compare it to MVP04 its not fluid.

I will eventually give it another try.

Yeah, the framerate isnt the best in the world on the PS2 version. The fielding camera can be herky-jerky at times too, but the more you play it, the more you will get used to it and it wont bother you as much......or maybe it just might not be the game for you. If thats the case, your only out $4 which isnt too bad.

. Little did anyone really know that the groundwork was being set for, arguably, the most devastating offense in the history of college football.

Devilhawk - Sorry, I do not know how to do that, but check some of the earlier posts. There's alot of info about PC files. You may need a Sharkport, or hardware of that type. Sorry, not a computer whiz like the other guys around her!
Still chugging through my season and still loving this game. 16-15, 1.5 games back with 23 to go. In Montreal tonight for a good divisional battle with Les Expos!

To get a PC roster file to ps2 one needs the DangerZ High Heat editor, to be able to save it as a ps2 file, then one would need a sharkport or xport, or Maxdrive to then get on the ps2 memory card.

But it will be a lot of hard work to convert it, as many of the newer pc files have over 100 players on a team roster, and in order to get it to convert it to ps2 file, one would need to fix all the rosters to have just 100 player as well as 25 players at each level(ML, AAA,AA,A)

                        Hey, fellas,
Figured I'd give a quick update. Is anyone else still in a season?
I was doing pretty well. Then I changed my sliders to default except Sim which I still have at 8. Pitch speed is going back to where it was - default pitch speed is way too slow. Anyway, I've dropped three in a row. Last place, 3 back of Montreal with 17 to go. Wright and Beltran are killing me and they are on the bench now. Pedro and Johan are the only ones I'm winning with. Maine, Pelfrey, and Perez are doing ok, but can't buy a win. Can't get anything going on offense and no clutch hitting. Question about aiming your swing: If a pitch is a strike, should I aim? I assume aiming is more for pitches out of the zone and has no bearing on where the ball goes. Interested in any feedback.
Oh, and the comment earlier about the herky jerky fielding cam - do you have "action camera" on? Turn that off.

I'm about to start a 50 game season, I was able to find a roster save and have been updating my cubs team to my liking.

Yeah, baby!! Update your Cubbies and get it going! Glad to see someone besides me is still getting alot of mileage from this!
Just played the Cubs over the weekend. Edmonds killed me. Even when I tried to pitch around him, he'd reach out and club the pitch and do some type of damage! Lost both games. Rich Hill beat Pelfrey 5-1. Then, Cubs rallied for a late run off Schoeneweis and beat me 5-4. Love to play the Cubs - brings back memories of 69, 84, and all those crazy games at Wrigley!

After 45 games, I'm 23-22, 2 out of division and Wild Card. 9 games to go. My settings are pretty much unchanged. Looks like I've got a good pennant race and we're in the homestretch.
Anyone else getting to the end? Anyone still playing?
