I'd say a "C" is about a .300 hitter. An "A" is a guy who hits .350+ and "B" would probably be a .325 type of guy. "D" is average for a starting caliber player. "E" is probably like a .250+ guy. You can get a pretty good idea of what they're shooting for with each rating if you find the stat generator and try different ratings there.

Just got the game yesterday and it's awesome, first baseball game that I've wanted to keep playing in a LONG time.
The only place I found it was at Wal-Mart.Comment

So I have been looking in a lot of places and cant find my answer to whether or not you can change or add positions for your created player in MLB Life mode. I want to play something besides left field...thanks for replies!

I haven't played with it a ton but I remember during free time you can talk to the coach and one of the options is "I want to change my role." Not sure if that would do it though.Comment

Re: Official MLB Power Pros 2008 thread!
This game continues to just keep playing a great game of baseball for me every time I play it.
Was in a close game yesterday 2-2, bottom of the 9th, I'm the Jays with Eckstein up with his hefty 3 Hrs from last year rating, gets up to the plate,,,
Kazmir makes a mistake pitch,,I hammer it, camera goes to the behind the plate cinematic foul pole view, will it be fair or foul,,,,,hooking,,,smash, right off the net mesh on the pole and made like a cool sound. Not like hitting the foul pole doink, but a cool sound. Game winner, it was sweet.Comment

Re: Official MLB Power Pros 2008 thread!
So now that everyone has been playing awhile, what players seem to go off on the game and are over achievers??
For me, Guthrie is a sick puppy, dude is impossible off of for me.
Wiggington is always winning player of the week awards and alway seems to go off in the game as well.Comment

I'm frustrated. Normal batting seems too hard, (I can still get base hits, but no HRs) but lock at 1 seems to easy. Kinda puts a damper on things.Goozex

That leads to the other thing...The longer you hold the cursor in one spot, the more powerful your swing. If you barely have to move the cursor as the pitch comes in AND swing at the right time, you'll often get a "Best Try" or "Good Try" swing, and those are the ones that have a good chance of leaving the yard. Try it in BP - it'll give you instant feedback on how good the swing was.
Oh, and I don't think the Best try thing works with Lock-On enabled - it's gotta be on normal. You can get Good Trys though.
If that was confusing, I'll try to explain better tonight when I can actually play the game - I'm getting ready to leave for work in a few minutes.Comment

Lock 1 is pretty challenging for me with CPU pitching expert. Unless I use a really good team then lock 1 is kinda easy.Comment

Re: Official MLB Power Pros 2008 thread!
To get any sort of power hitting in this game (last year's game, mostly) I found that I had to play where the ball's location would show up and then disappear just before the pitch was thrown. The challenge then came in reading the pitch type and moving the cursor accordingly. I did still swing and miss using this method, so it's not like I made contact all the time. In fact, I stil looked downright awful on some curveballs in the dirt.

I'm rocking the same setting. The most runs I've put up were 8 with a few HRs. I also shut off the AI's pitch cursor entirely. Good pitchers dominate me a bit though.Comment

Re: Official MLB Power Pros 2008 thread!
Hey guys, went in and made the current roster changes, Griffey to Chicago, Manny to LA, etc. Started a season, played a few games and went to check the stats. I see that Manny is not starting for the Dodgers as his at bats are low like he is pinch hitting now and then. When I did the change in Arrange Mode I made sure he was not placed in triple A. It seems like the game is just not starting him which is preposterous. Anyone have any ideas or have noticed this?Originally posted by ImTellinTimIf I lived in Waco, I would find you and kick you right in the nuts.Comment

Re: Official MLB Power Pros 2008 thread!
Just bought the game and I have a few questions.
1. To use updated rosters (by myself of course) Do I go to arrange teams and copy them all into the 32 spots and when I want to start a season I just bring them all into the the season? Can I still just control one team?
2. What settings are most of you guys using. I can't remember what I used last year, but is there a consensus or somewhat consensus on what people are finding realistic.
3. Is it pretty easy to train players?
4. I am looking to make a few of the major moves that happened in MLB. Can anyone give me a list of a some of the major moves? (i.e. Manny, Jason Bay) and who they gave up for them.
Can't wait to get my season started any help to answering these questions would be appreciated.
Thanks,Comment
