Re: Official MLB Power Pros 2008 thread!

It seems as they've made the game harder, or maybe I'm a little rusty from just sticking mainly to my life and success mode and not playing a lot of games yet. I've been working on updating the rosters and have had to make a lot of people in success mode, and my life is just way too fun right now. But, does it seem like it's harder than last years version to anyone else? I used to absolutely dominate on expert and it was a fair game on all star or powerful for me, but this year all star is too much and expert is more fair. It might get much easier as I go along as it did in last years game though.

Yeah it seems that the cpu is tougher this time around. All my games are pretty close on expert and I need to play smart. Few games I have my way with the cpu, other games I get owned. If you leave a pitcher in to long or if they start to get rocked, you almost have to get them out in the late innings.

Last year I was up to all star and powerful on some cpu settings and I could still have my way with the cpu.

The games are so diverse and so random, and no exhibition game thus far for me has been exactly the same. Which says alot because there is so much variety in hits, and game flow, more so then ANY baseball game I've ever played.

Re: Official MLB Power Pros 2008 thread!

After importing a japanse "big head" baseball game for the N64 back in the day I've been dieing to get my hands on a baseball game that was as fun as that was.

So tonight I got the red rings of death on the 360. So I figured now is as a good as any to get a Wii and Power Pros. My girlfriend has been on my case about picking up a Wii so with my 360 gone for 3-4 weeks I figure I can justify the purchese.

Looking foward to getting my hands on this game.

          Hey everyone,

Has anyone confirmed if the PS2 version works properly on the 80GB PS3?

            Got it on a rental....

I dunno, Power Pros just isn't doing it for me this year. It's probably because I played the heck out of last year's game (and still do), but it just doesn't feel any different. That's not to say it's a bad thing - the game is a ton of fun. I played a few games against the Cardinals, and each one was close and competitive. But it just feels the same - much more so than other games that update each year. Does anyone else like me who was hooked on the first game feel that way?

And....I just can't get into MLB Life without being able to play the field. I guess RTTS has spoiled me.

I still play the original every so often (I heart my 60 GB PS3 ), but I just can't see myself getting 2008. I'd greatly recommend the game to anyone who didn't play last year's game though - you're in for quite a unique treat.

I agree with your assessment. Last year I played the game with at All-Star settings with no lock-on batting and got realistic results. Went with the same settings this year and the CPU absolutey hammered my pitching and I could not hit. Tinkered with the settings, went down to Expert settings and again got totally destroyed. Not talking a game or two here. Played 12-15 games at each of the above settings. Got hammered with 15-20 CPU hits per game and still having trouble hitting. I am currently trying CPU Normal hitting with CPU Expert pitching with me at Lock-on 2 hitting. Still getting shelled from time to time but I am more competative. Anyone have settings that they like and can win some games?

I'm planning on getting this game since I thoroughly enjoyed last year's edition of Power Pros. I was just curious, though, if someone could list the full roster for the Minnesota Twins? I would just like to see how up to date the roster is. I know last year's was a bit off, and I wanted just a idea of how much stuff I'm going to have to edit in this one. Thanks.

Someone over at 2K has a thread about the roster tweaks that need to be made to get rosters current. I used this and was able to input the correct (hopefully) recent roster updates. Took me a couple of hours. Here's the link.

Thanks for the help. Is the depth of rosters about the same as last year? I think there was about 5 known players in the minors for each team, then some fake players as well. Last year, I just edited them so that if the fake player name didn't represent anyone, I would change it to an actual person on that team (and change any necessary attributes). I'll probably do the same again this year.

Yeah, that's about what it is this year as well. I started a Season Mode with the Twins. The roster was actually pretty darn good. Casilla was missing, for some reason, but they had guys like Tolbert and Bass. It's basically what the roster looked like in April. Oh, and Denard Span was actually in the game, though I had to make him a lot better, and guys like Cuddyer a lot worse.

Casilla's a fake player under the name of Great Byrd, but he's bad though.

Just when you thought it was safe to start a season making all your roster changes, Adamn Dunn goes and gets traded,,,,errrrrr,,,waiver wire deal.

Gotta love MLB, what's the stupid point of a trade deadline, when everyrone makes deals after it anyways.

I made every single move that has happened(I'm pretty sure I got it), but there's still plenty of people I have to make So, I think I'll be waiting until after the waiver deadline to start a season, because there are some important people missing that I'll have to take time to make.

Yeah I all the rosters done, but they were based on depth charts last week, and guys are getting called up left and right anyways, aso it's a never ending battle..lol.

Haven;t started my season yet, I was actually going to start it sometime this week though, I'm just messing around with some exhibition games when I get a chance just to make sure I have settings right before I start.

That is why I'm making classic rosters. They never change!!

So what's the consensus as far as stamina goes? I've got a formula figured out for stamina based on innings pitched per game. I originally had 40 as the low end for stamina and 200 as the upper limit. Especially with older players (back in the days of 4 man rotations), is 200 too low? A lot of the older pitchers threw 10-20 CG a year.
