This is the first time that I have played any OOTP game (or sim/management-sports game altogether). I love baseball, have the show 09, but I do not have time to play console games too much having 3 month old baby. I am so glad that I read the OS review and decided to give this game a go. It is sports management heaven. I can play the game here and there on my laptop and I feel like I am actually making progress. With MLB the Show, I want to actually play most games because that is the games bread and butter. OOTP gives me the career/franchise type mode that I love and super sizes to a level that I have never experienced.

I am doing a 2009 Mets league. I love the fact that trying to move Carlos Delgado's contract, at his age, is proving quite a challenge. No one wants this guy and he stinks for me. Any other game I've played, I would probably be able to trade him for a number one starter just because he is Delgado. I am having a blast with this game have not even gotten to the draft or offseason stuff.

Make sure you download the new financials.txt document from the OOTP forums, as there is a bug with the ones that shipped with the game where you will virtually unable to trade players as every team goes over budget and you can only trade for someone if they are an exact salary match.

I'm in a real good league using real MLB teams and players. The Commish puts in a great deal of work and there are plenty of active users. We simulate three times a week and are currently in the second offseason.

If anybody is interested I could let them know when there are some open teams.

I'm getting back into playing OOTP after a hiatus. I am playing OOTP 9 now and haven't jumped to X yet, not sure if I will. The pricing in Europe is whack as it is 40 Euros, roughly $60 and I just can't justify it for an update. X seems cool but for what I do I'll probably just play 9 until the summer when 11 comes out.

How's every one's OOTP seasons so far? I've been looking for a roster update, but there isn't one... hopefully in OOTP11 which they're already working on, will include an option where the modders of the OOTP forums can have you edit the rosters and let you start off in an exact time (in this case, many people want to see a roster update that starts in the Free Agency period).

Anyways, my Braves organization isn't doing too bad... I kinda got tired of Bobby Cox always retiring and having to re-sign, or replace my minor league coaches so I went ahead and turned the scouts / managers off... anyways, I traded SP Javier Vazquez, 1B Freddie Freeman to Detroit for 1B Miguel Cabrera. I'm on the 1st Year Player draft now and I just took a 22/68 SP who's just 20 years old.

So up to this point, here are some of the notable stats:

SP Derek Lowe - 3-5, 4.50 ERA, 84.0 IP, 101 H, 44 K
SP Jair Jurrjens - 6-3, 2.54 ERA, 71.0 IP, 66 H, 59 K,

Nice update.

I have so many sweet memories of my old solo league that ran for nearly 50 years. It got lost/corrupted when I couldn't move the file over to OOTP 6.5. Sad time. Had started it way back in OOTP 4. Been extremely hard for me to dedicate that time again. So I only play in online leagues (three right now and not taking any invitations as they take up a lot of my time as is).

But the days of James Fife and Barry Cooper will always live on in my memory.

This whole week I've been playing with the Yanks... lost in a seven-game series against the Red Sox. It went down to Game 7... lost4-3 after Girardi tried leaving Veras in there for more than two innings... <_<

Teixeira won Gold Glove, Sabathia Cy Young, Posada retired...

Traded Marte and Robertson I think to Braves for whining Infante, Prado (AAA), Hanson (6 ERA in AAA, I guess they gave up on em) and Jo-Jo Reyes. My trade settings are Very Low/Favor Prospects/Hard... so yeah, I think thatwas a ripoff but so what?! lol

Then I traded Joba for Roy Halladay.

Signed Holliday to 16M per, Ivan to a low contract can't remember, and Mike Gonzalez to 660K.

I reluctantly bought X because the league I was in was upgrading. I probably wouldn't have otherwise since there really aren't too many new features.

Would you guys be interested in an OOTPX dyansty report by me? I'm thinking of doing a Braves one but adding a full Division 1 College Feeder league along with 80 or so high schools... just to make the draft a little more interesting perhaps? Who knows... last time I tried starting an OOTP dynasty it didn't work out so well lol

The season ended in a disappointing fashion, we were ahead most of the season in the division but ended up losing out with a 88-74 record and missing the playoffs being behind 2.0GB but here is a top three list of performances (of young players) this year:

CF Jordan Schafer - .290/.348/.524 - 31 HR, 91 RBI, 44 BB
C Brian McCann - .294/.371/.447, 16 HR, 85 RBI, 69 BB
SP Jair Jurrjens - 17-5, 3.64 ERA, 205.0 IP, 170 K

Team needs to address this offseason:

-2B (Will KJ be tendered?)
-LF (Garret gone, most likely Diaz as well)
-More Power (Braves were 11th in the NL in HR's)
-Bench (Infante, Prado, Ross ... down years)

It's definitely a fun game Sky. Best part is it can be as in-depth or as low key as you make it.

I loved going back and playing the old seasons, like 70s and 80s using the historical database.
