Aren't you contradicting #4, with your #1 post? Your preference isn't right either, then is it, lol?

These games all have "problems" with their player models. I thought this has been known for some time, but.......continue.

Open forum question. Which series (The Show, Professional Baseball Spirits, or MLB2K) has the more "medically anatomically proportional" player model?

Are you going to make this a thread. And I'm serious. Just asking.

Side note: SCEA already had new player models, have worked on them the past two years. They just aren't prepared to put them in yet as they have to tie them in with the animations. There are actually guys working there who have B.A. and M.B.A. degrees who know quite a bit about anatomy.

    Short version
    :
    1. Contradiction? Looks like it, but it wasn't suppose to be a "strict" contradictory answer. There's a catch to it.
    2. Nope. Question will remain simply inside this thread (no need for a new thread).

    Long version
    :
Serious question gets a serious answer.

Nope, no new thread. It's simply a question that will remain in this thread. More like what's the "point of life" question that anyone can answer, but in our case, there really should be a "right" answer with respect to anatomy.

Contradiction? Maybe, but I would not really consider it that way until we digitally measure the video game player's dimensions. With respect to #4, it says "preference doesn't mean it's the 'right' answer." My thought process here: People have preferences that may not be the "right" answer, but scientifically anatomically speaking, there should be one "right" answer.

A 6'1" digital baseball player should have a certain ratio that corresponds to a human 6'1" real baseball player.

We've already had several "preferences" made by various users. Who's preference is right? Answer remains unknown until we digitally measure these digital baseball players to real baseball players anatomically.

Early impressions, preference in this order:

      1. PYS 2010
      2. 2K10
      3. Show 10
      May 6, 1998: 9 IP, 1 H, 0 BB, 20 K

As a few others have said, both games have their problems. But I tend to side with the Show models for several reasons. One being that 2K's player models have been bugging me since 2K9, the legs on EVERY player are huge!! Why do Roy Oswalt and Ryan Howard look interchangeable except for their skin color and face?!? Another reason being the animations and faces in the Show overall rectify the "squarish" body shapes. I also think the Show has more variety in body types, though not much, than 2K. I personally believe that MLB 2K7 had the closest to PERFECT player models we've seen yet in any game, and is arguably the most graphically impressive baseball game this gen.

          good topic.

          Hmmm
seeing as i OWN the show and only have seen 2k in demos on youtube, it seems the 2k models are more cartoony, but at the same time, look in terms of body types to be a tad more righteous.

the show models need a facelift if only for the weird shoulders on them and the blockiness of some, if i stated it correctly.

I'll d/l 2k tonight and see what i see in motion.

Funny tho, i like cartoony players, not meaning i prefer them, i just have no problem with them.

as long as the rest of the game fits the cartoony look.

Re: Player Models, The Show 10 or 2K10?

The textures on The Show are better, but the models themselves are a lot better on 2K.

The legs and feet on The Show models were given an improvement on 09. The fit of the pants and size of the feet were improved. This part of the model is pretty good. The upper bodies are a letdown though, they're just an odd shape and the arms are much too short, made worse by the shoulder model.

They're the same as 09 this year, so this pic is a good illustration of when the models look better and when they look simply awful. The catcher's body looks like a box with a rectangle on top with two small arms on it. There is no definition to the shoulder to neck, the shape of the body, etc.

It's worse when it affects the animations. Just watch the pitching motion video that Blzer posted and you see the problem. Even if you mo-capped, the player models make it almost pointless because they're so far out. The way the body parts move in 2K is just much more realistic.

The Show has better player models....Boxy shoulders and all. They're recognizable at least. I just can't get over the snow pants everyone has on in 2K baseball....I'll take boxy shoulders over snow pants

Texture wise? MLB 10 is outstanding.
Proportionately? MLB 2K10 is almost spot on except for the big guys like feilder or ortiz so thats when overall MLB 10 The Show looks better in the long run while playing...

This is an area 2k and SCEA have to improve on. If for anything 2k needs to make their BIG guys phatter and theur uniforms more baggy in genral..

MLb 10 needs to just lengthen their players...(hmm wait could that be an edit?)

2k has the better player models. The show has the better faces(except Soriano)..
