Re: How is your franchise doing in OOTP11?

If you're looking for an online OOTP league to play in, I know of one that has 2 team openings. The league is the best league I've ever played in and the owners and commissioner are really understanding. I've rejoined this league this year but there are still 2 openings of two very nice teams to manage. If you are new, we are willing to help you get on track. Information can be found here: http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...-openings.html

I'm still trying to learn the game lol. Anyway, I started with the Red Sox and currently 14-8 on the season. Kevin Youkilis has 12 homers and 28 RBI's. He's been my star so far.

On a sour note, the injury bug has hit me hard. Lester went on the 60 DL 2 starts in and Okajima and Cameron have sustained some injuries

I promoted Ryan Kalish and Josh Reddick has played decently.

Yeah, man. It absolutely sucks when you get hit by the injury bug. Just makes your minor league system that much more important to replenish the major league team when needed. Good luck with your season!

Re: How is your franchise doing in OOTP11?

I'm starting up a Fictional 1969 Game, with all the team names matching the ones in 1969, but with a Fictional League Structure and Fictional Players.

          The Structure looks like this:

          Code:
          AL East
          Baltimore Orioles
          Boston Red Sox
          New York Yankees
          Washington Senators

          AL Central
          Chicago White Sox
          Cleveland Indians
          Detroit Tigers
          Kansas City Royals

          AL West
          California Angels
          Minnesota Twins
          Oakland Athletics
          Seattle Pilots
          Code:
          NL East
          Atlanta Braves
          Montreal Expos
          New York Mets
          Philadelphia Phillies

          NL Central
          Chicago Cubs
          Cincinnati Reds
          Pittsburgh Pirates
          St. Louis Cardinals

          NL West
          Houston Astros
          Los Angeles Dodgers
          San Diego Padres
          San Francisco Giants
I will move and expand teams as in real life, only i will re-align the teams to meet the three division structure.

I'm thinking i'll take over the Pilots/Brewers and see what i can do.

Re: How is your franchise doing in OOTP11?

I almost decided to scrap my current league (because I wasn't playing too realistically not allowing the manager to 'make the decisions' during the game for me because I made the subs) but decided not to scrap it after going this far. I might even start a dyansty thread in the HQ after this season with or without a championship. There are a lot of story lines that can be taken from this save... Traded for LaPorta, Cox probably retiring after this season, Freddi Gonzalez available in the Coach FA, etc.

Now I'm looking to perhaps improve my rotation but am not in a rush. My team has the pieces to make a move for a young, stud ace to teams that may be rebuilding. That piece (or pieces) can be figured out in the future... so stay tuned!

I had to move all the real player photos in my 'photos' folder from the All-in-One mod to my MLB league's images folder so it wouldn't affect and overwrite the players with the same names in my fictional online leagues. Just a tip for those who are wondering why that's happening to them.

Nevermind. This doesn't work. At least... not the way I had hoped. Those who have .fg files but have not been generated/activated yet use the real player photos for some reason. I want it so that the real player photos are only used when the player does not have a face generated file! Urgh, frustrating..

I managed to get some new facegen files to replace the photos in the all-in-one pack. I even got one of my own face lol.

Anyway, I think I'm going to restart my franchise. I was doing well with the Sox, but I need to do a better job of managing my minor league system. Stay tuned

Sounds good, man. Yeah, definitely keep us updated! I always love to hear how others are doing with their teams.

And yeah, got my own facegen too. So when I hit 'manager options' it shows me in a nice Braves uniform.

I run mainly solo fictional leagues. I try every year to start and run an MLB off the MLB roster set included int he game, but the Giants start to do lousy and I usually give it up. I like remixing the league though too by dropping players and redrafting completely different teams.

I sim the majority of the seasons and play out what look like the best match-ups here and there. I do play out the entire post-season though. My fav time of the season.

That's what's fun to me. I like rebuilding, even when I'm playing in a competitive, online fictional league. For the Giants, I'm interested in using them... perhaps trading Bumgarner for Adam Jones or trading for a leadoff hitter. Something about rebuilding intrigues me. Maybe it's just the hope lol.

As for the playoffs, yeah I'm with you. Best part of the game... is winning a close playoff game or coming from behind to win it. You get really into it especially when you're watching in one-pitch mode lol.

Hey OOTP vets - I have a question. How do you manage your Minor League players and getting the best of your farm system. Do you have the computer managing all your minor league moves or do you do them all yourself?

What do people use for injury settings? I left it on default, which the manual says is a little less than real life, but I usually get so many. My season last year, my playoff lineup was missing my starting 1b, 2b, ss, 3b, lf, and rf. All those players were out for a month or longer at one time. Somehow my mediocre pitching staff came through in the playoffs and I won the world series Also, top prospect Jesus Montero had a career ending injury.

I don't know if it was just a complete fluke or what. I'm pretty careful about keeping my players healthy. If they are fatigued at all I give them a day off. I never play them if it's an injury they can play through.
