First of all, when I said clowdown, I mean slowdown.
My bad on that.
Secondly, the whole disappearing ball thing is what the problem was with all of the ASB's (including last year's). Like in replays for homeruns, there's a delay in the batter hitting the ball and such, and I'm not sure if you noticed or not, but if you hold onto X/A (depending on the system you have) right after the ball is picthed, you will still probably hit it. It is a very sticky thing and something that has to do with some slowdown effect that wasn't in ASB 2002. That's what's so great about World Series Baseball 2K3... when you press the swing button, they swing then.
Also, transition is very important, because like I said before, you use the cursor and place it anywhere, and if say the ball location was under the cursor, then I sometimes think that the game makes a random place for the ball to go (at least it seemed like this in 2003). You know... also with Zone hitting, you could've aimed in kind of the wrong direction that the ball was actually pitched, and if you see a slowdown for the pitch, then you know that you hit it. Not saying that it's a fair ball, just saying that you know that you hit it. That's what was great about High Heat, whereas you need to practically get the right spot, otherwise it's a foul-tip, foul-back, or you missed it.
I think that MVP's hitting was WAY off... their directional hitting didn't seem to make a difference last year (besides the groundball/flyball business). However, it is said to have been improved this year.
I hope that ESPN Major League Baseball will have a Zone hitting this year, because their timed hitting was just plain... well... dumb. It's like my representation of ASB's Easy Batting, and it's really no fun. However, they have true transitions, because it doesn't cut to a new camera angle, it zooms out from the batting angle.
I know that that was a complete ramble... and I'm not even sure if it made sense. I just improvised as I spoke there... I hope it made sense. Anyways, yeah, that's my view on it.
