    Re: Manage only Mode Thread

I decided to not use any generated pitch counts anymore, as the fatigue that your pitchers get from it is insane. After one batter my guys are over halfway done! I'm finding that with no generated pitches they fatigue as they should. It doesn't make the game play that much longer, and I'm enjoying the longer at-bats anyway.

Strange thing happened last night also. Phillies score 2 runs against me with a long double off the center field wall. No runs are recorded by the game. I'm seeing some goofy bugs pop up here and there that need to be patched; still having fun though.

It has been done in the past, even though Microsoft tells developers to make sure their products work right the first time, because the Xbox isn't a PC and not everyone is on Live. But I know the the original MotoGP, Unreal Tournament, and some others have had "updates" that added features, to include bug fixes. None of them are major fixes though, rather they were tweaks, or updates to the online code to stop cheating (UbiSoft just had a big anti-cheat update come out for Rainbow Six 3.)

So it can be done, but is frowned upon by MS, because they should be tested enough right off the bat. But of course they aren't going to tell companies to not fix things that pop up. Evidently MS has a pretty strict testing department; they test all titles after the publishers do, and before they are approved to be put on Xbox.

                  Re: Manage only Mode Thread

So far, I'm really liking this game. The Manage Only Mode has improved greatly, and though there are still some slight statistical irregularities, they are of a minor nature for the most part. My teams pitchers don't stike out many, (they are last in the league after 19 games by a good margin), but I'm using a 2-0 generated count, which I find to suit me the best, and that may be contributing to the few strikeouts. Scott Rolen has struck out 27 times in 19 games to lead the league, but is having a fine year nonetheless. The Cardinals are 11-8 and in third place (behind the Astros and Cubs) The standings look very realistic. The offense has been improved a great deal, and scores of my games are all over the place, as they should be. My Cardinals are having alot of trouble in the bullpen, and that's certainly realistic.

All in all, very pleased with ASB 2005.

bump.. Are people still playing the game like this? How are the results at this point (I'd assume that you hard core guys would have gotten in 60 games or so by this point).

I'm at the 99 game mark, and the tweaks keep on coming. I was reading Jim416's Return to ASB thread, and did some tweaking on speed ,range, pitcher stamina ,etc. as outlined in that fine thread. I also (in the manage only mode) am going to try to lower the catchers arm and accuracy rating by one grade (at least) to see if the steal percentages can get to a more realistic level.

Edgar Renteria is something like 10-20 on steals, and Tony Womack started off 1-9, before stealing 8-9. Maybe pitch count selectivity is a key, but they sometimes just get horrendous jumps.

Still enjoying the game, and my team is at 49-50 (Cardinals) The strikeouts are out of sight. Especially Rolen and Pujols (who in reality is far from a free swinging strikeout guy)

Overall a great game ,and one I'm still enjoying.
