Please...enough with the dramas, I get enough of those at work and sometimes with the wife Onto the subject of the thread...ASB looks like the realistic choice if you are a gamer like me who prefers substance over style (Which ASB also has). I didn't play much of last year's version, but this is the first one I am getting. I will look at ESPN and if it's better I will get that. However, judging from videos and previews it seems this game is more slanted to realism rather than all arcade. Doesn't mean much until the games are played, but this is my guess right now.

            I wasn't being dramatic.

The only thing I said in this thread was that there were many first-pitch hits constantly, in nearly every video. I didn't say anything else, I only went more in-depth on first-pitch hitting, but that's all. I never talked about fly balls or any other hit variety, but nobody can get it through their heads.

Does anyone else agree that it's pretty constant that there's a lot of first-pitch htting?

Re: ASB2005 looks to be the clear winner this year....

This year I'm getting MVP although all of the games look great this year.

In 2002, I got HH 2003 and although it was more arcade than sim, it was so fun I could never stop playing.

In 2003, I got HH 2004 and I thought it sucked, was boring, and unrealistic. So I picked up ASB and I had a blast, the franchise mode was so deep I spent all my time playing it.

This year I was planning on getting ASB and was so hyped for the fielder cam. I was checking out the MVP boards and I soon found from all of the videos and the OS guys' impressions, that it better suited me. It was a little faster paced, a little more exciting, but it didnt seem like it substituted realism for excitement. Also, with the addition of being able to play minor league games, and how deep the franchise has become this year with the new chemistry feature, I found it was the game for me.

This year, all of the games (with the exception of ESPN) look amazing. MLB looks really smooth with great animations, ASB has a deep franchise mode and the new fieldercam, and MVP has everything I just mentioned.

It all goes by personal preference and responding to the inital post, there is no "clear winner". There is only a "clear winner" to yourself, but none in general. It all goes by personal preference, there is no winner.

Muffin, the first pitch hitting rest solely on the person playing. If the person is impatient or trying to showcase the game in a video, then theres GOING to be alot of swinging. I owned both ASB 2002 & 2003 & believe me the CPU plays very realistically, which includes working the count. The thing I don't understand is how you can still defend ESPN the way you do. I use to be a huge Sega fanboy as well, but when a company isn't delivering a good product anymore, then it's time to move on. You almost act as if you don't want the best baseball game unless it's released by Sega. I really hope Sega bounces back next season with a vastly improved game, for your sake especially.

No, it's not that the Human is doing it, it's that the CPU is doing it (BTW, if the Human is doing it, then that means that contact is too easy on the difficulty level they're playing on).

And about the baseball games, I'm getting ESPN and MVP. The only thing I've defended for ESPN is the fact that people are saying that ESPN hasn't changed. I can understand that some by the lack of videos, but when I point something out and they don't see it, then that tells me that they didn't spend enough time with the previous year's game.

The reason that I CAN defend so much is because I've played over 500 games of WSB 2K3. Yes, that may make me sound like a freak, but that's all I played when I had it, until ESPN NFL, then I played both games (keep in mind that the only non-sports games I have are the two GTA's and the two SOCOM's). So, after seeing so much of WSB 2K3, then a change that SEGA makes with their game the next year is VERY noticeable.

Oh, and I'm not a SEGA fanboy.
