Yep. Arcadish, cartoonish games appeal more to the fringe baseball fan - which is a hella lot more people. EA knows what they're doing.

Re: Still dunno why MVP is getting all the press.

A lot of people consider baseball a very boring sports. When that is translated into a realistic game, natually people don't want to play that. For those of us that really love baseball, ASB is the perfect gem. Not saying this applies to everyone, but MVP TENDS to go after the casual gamers, which is a BIG majority when it comes to baseball games. .

Anyone notice that all of the screen shots of MVP are extreme closeups. Seems odd, but anyway. I tried MVP last year and hated it. I have watched a lot of movies and it seems much of the same. Every other play is a web gem. That is not for me.

MVP is so popular because of one thing, MARKETING. They make their games look so good before release and hype them up so much, that everyone gets excited. Much props to them, they work hard and in return are very successful. Will it be the best baseball game? Probably not, I'd give that honor to ASB, but their marketing department sure makes it the best baseball game in terms of sales.

Sorry but that marketing arguement you can only take so far. This gets played out in the football forums every year. If you have a bad product year after year people will stop buying it regardless of how you market it.

Believe it or not there are still a lot of people playing Madden right now. If it sucked it would be selling for $10 in the discount bin. EA makes very good games. They know what they're doing. Are they the best? That cannot EVER be answered because it's all opinion. But to constantly assume that everyone except a select few 'non believers' is a stupid zombie blinded by the EA marketing machine to buy everything the company puts out is completely untrue.

It's not even that anymore. Steve said so himself. The game is very fun. So far, all the hype is living up to its word. He said MVP seemed to be very realistic.

I'm still at a bind whether I should get ASB or move onto MVP. I am a WSB veteran and I despise that game now that I've discovered the other games. I'm looking for the most realistic recreation of baseball and ASB seems to have that. But the flair of MVP, ugh, it's hard to resist such hype.
