While I can agree that BK's choice to post what he did (in a thread with the topic that it has) was curious, I don't believe that's what took this thread off track. The continuous interrogation (rather than just leaving it be) is what made this thread spiral out of control.

    <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

Seems like one led to the other. When you get one MVP fan who has no plans to buy ASB coming into a thread on the ASB board (about praising the game) just to shoot it down, certainly that's inviting trouble.

Then it was exascerbated by more MVP fans coming in to stoke the embers - taking what BK was saying and twisting it into their own opinions - then agreeing (essentially with themselves).

The bottom line is that 90 percent of people who have no plans to buy ASB this year simply know very little about the 05 edition and are talking about problems with ASB04 or ASB03 (or, even worse, what so-and-so said on the boards about it last year). Which makes the trolling and arguing even more annoying.

    <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

Hmm ... Seems to me the only thing BK said was that he wasn't buying the game. Questionable given the topic? Yes. But, I didn't see him shoot it down, as you say ... at least until he started responding to the constant questions. And, I don't see BK so much as an MVP fan as he is disenchanted with ASB.

And as for agreeing with BK, that is certainly not what I was doing. I was applauding him for well articulated responses to your interrogation. He gave his reasons for not purchasing the game, which you requested over and over.

And finally, it's not unheard of for someone not to purchase a release because of issues they had with prior versions. That's exactly why I did not buy ASB 2004 ... I didn't like ASB 2003. I understand your point. You feel people should make informed decisions. I couldn't agree more. But why do you allow something so out of your control to affect you so?? I'm sure you'll love ASB, and that's all that really matters, right? (Rhetorical questions)

Good luck and have fun. If I buy ASB, maybe we can play a game online sometime.

Definitely. Still, it's tough to let it go when (though this is not what happened in this case) you see someone say they're not getting the game because of the pitch speeds, or the lack of a BTP view, or one of the other things that are addressed in this game but were problems in past editions. For that reason, it gets excluded from most multiconsole baseball game discussions, and most of the people on the boards have written the series off altogether.

As BK's posts implied, I guess it's just going to take several years of excellent games to get people to try the series again.

I would've mentioned it, but I know someone will come in and spout out, I guess there isn't a way to circumvent this.

I know ASB doesn't have the best gameplay, but I'm familiar with it. Of course I'd be willing to play other games, but I have my so called "nitpicking" reasons that does not include collision detection to not get them.

IMO, all the games seem equal in a way, yet they all offer something different that fits almost every gamer with what they're looking for. I'm entitled to getting something I'm familiar with or if it has something that this game doesn't yet it also offers what the other game has.

I know this has long since been left, but I just got to say this, to try and get everyone to understand the points of view here.

                  Following are quotes from bkrich83:

                  </font><blockquote><font class="small">Quote:</font><hr />
And when zone hitting, foul balls were next to non-exixtent, 9 out of 10 balls put in play where to the middle 1/3 of the field, and I felt at times the CPU offense posed no threat.

                  <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

That's a bold face Lie. Sorry, but it is. Foul balls were out in wide numbers last year on ASB. In EVERY type of hitting. I rarely remember hitting anything to the middle of the field over and over again, infact if anything I would constantly end up hitting them on the corner. That's just a lie....I can remember vividly having at bats where there were up to twenty foul balls before I either got out or got a hit.

                  </font><blockquote><font class="small">Quote:</font><hr />
I haven't paid attention as much this year. Every year I read about all their improvements and every year I end up leaving disappointed. So this year I have decided to save myself the disappointment.

                  <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

So you admit that you wouldn't even spend five minutes checking a game out before passing judgement on it. And you're a writer here? Pathetic. I mean really, this is a lesson you should learn in the schoolyard, never pass judgement on anything you know NOTHING ABOUT. Never argue about something you know NOTHING ABOUT. So the question still arises, what exactly where you thinking when you waltzed into this thread? Were you thinking it was okay to give an unfair assessment of a game you know nothing about in a thread that discussed why current fans of said game were buying it? What were you thinking?? Inquiring minds would like to know.

Not getting the exact truth from someone on the ASB development team would not be a first on these boards.

                  <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

Heh, but getting a complete and total Lie or Fabrication from the truth would be. That would definitely be a first. Besides which, self admittingly you didn't do diddly to learn jack about the game, so what would you know about the dev situation on this board? Not much.

I hate for this to be a personal attack, I really do, but does anyone outside these boards realize how hard ASB fans have had it? Every time someone comes in to complain aout this game, now even STAFF, they are UNEDUCATED ABOUT IT. Do you think that's fair to anyone? Is it fair or just to pass judgement on a game before reading one article about it? I ask you, because somewhere along this line people think it's okay to do that. The fact is that it just isn't. It's like the saying, don't do anything to anyone that you wouldn't want done to yourself. If anyone is acting childish here, it's you guys. I'm suprised here. SHAME!!

As for all Baseball games, apparently you still don't understand. I thought I spelled it out in my last post here, but of course, if you're not going to read an article about the game why read anything anyone has to say about it?

Now, would it be fair to assume that in a Baseball Video Game, you want to feel like you're in the park hitting the homers or throwing the strikes? Why else would you want to play the game, unless for betting circumstances? This is what most people want, and they list and describe it as: Gameplay. They want it to be believeable, that double play that they just made. For different people, it takes different things to make the Gameplay believeable to them. Now, one game out of all the Baseball games released will have the most of what said person needs to have the game feel the most believeable to them. People who like ASB are probably most opressed because it's the big things outside of the park that are different than any other game out there. What the opressors fail to realize is that sometimes it's the stuff outside the stadium that makes a player feel at home. I'm living proof of this example, everything ASB does makes me feel like I'm pitching in a big league stadium. It's like the old saying, different strokes for different folks.

Why does anyone contest this? Even when they say they agree, they often in the same post revert and say something to the basic affect of "THE GAME STILL SUCKS! YOU SUCK FOR GETTING IT!".

What bothers me about bk here is that for the first time in a long time I've felt the need to scream "SHEEP!". I mean no offense, really, but come on! You base all your opinions on others opinions. You "trust" others opinions more than your own. Ever seen a movie that a critic said sucked? If not you missed out on a few classics, pal. Make your own decisions based upon how you yourself feel about something, never let anyone else decide anything for you, you're just not even HUMAN if you don't adhere to these basic rules. Jesus, I feel like I'm talking to a 12 year old here. And people come in here calling US childish?!? That's a laugh.

Not getting the exact truth from someone on the ASB development team would not be a first on these boards.

Go play ASB '04 on zone hitting, and tell me how many foul balls you hit. Almost none. It's not like i am the only one who noticed it. The Cpu hits plenty but you will hit next to none. Tell me how many balls you hit down the lines or even to straight away left or right field. That number is extremely low. This was not an uncommon complaint. So as far as being a bold faced lie, I am afraid you are mistaken.

Like I said when asked over and over again, I am not purchasing this game until they prove they have improved the gameplay. They have gotten plenty of my money in the past, and this year I will not be handing it over sight unseen. It's really not that difficult.

Jeez, you'd think some of these people work on commision.

Umm read my posts again. I didn't pass judgement on the game. I said based on the last several years performance of this game, I do not plan on purchasing it. Very simple. I didn't bash this years game, I pointed out problems in past versions that have led me to not plunk down hard earned money on this years version.

Don't let you fanboyism put words in my mouth. I didn't say one bad thing about this years game other than they would have to prove to me they made gameplay improvements before I buy it.
