    Re: OOTP

Binkie Boobiefelter??? Got to love some of the names in OOTP!

A guy with 12 no-hitters is amazing. I remember one of my leagues, the same pitcher won the Cy Young award 7 years in a row or something. That was something else! I love how you basically invent your own baseball history with this game.

I am managing Toronto and we beat out the tough Cleveland team to capture the AL East on the last weekend of the season .. in a season-ending series against the Indians! I just beat Texas in the ALCS in seven games, coming back from an 8-4 deficit in game seven to win the series. One of my starting pitchers threw TEN no-hit innings (!) in the series but I had to take him out, I think I pinch hit for him in the 11th. We got a run in the top of the 11th and my closer came in, gave up a hit but we hung on for the win. So right now we're in the WS against St. Louis.

I plan on adding a couple expansion teams down the road a ways, not sure how I'll go about doing that though. Right now I have 2 six team divisions in each league.

Seinfeld Season 4 .. out on DVD May 17!

Actually, the four players I named from the Spider club were my own creation. That is one reason why I am mostly glad OOTP never went with the audio play-by-play they mulled over a few years back.

I agree with you. Fancy Dan Casey, my UBA's winningest pitcher, won the Pitcher of the Year award a stunning 14 times in his career, including a ten-year streak from 1932-41, all with the Albuquerque Keystones. He still holds the one-season record for wins as well, with a 29-9 mark in '37. Part of the 25th season celebration of the Association included renaming the Pitcher of the Year award to The Casey Cup. (The Batter of the Year award was renamed The Highland Trophy after the aforementioned Tyonus Highland, my all-time hits leader by a bunch.)

That is where my association is at as well. We started with two eight-team leagues, broke into divisional play in '55 (four four-team divisions), added four teams in '58 (Memphis, Mexico City, Indianapolis and Vancouver BC) and four more in '65 (Nashville, Orlando, Sacramento and Salt Lake City).

Although I plan further expansion, I am letting free agency take hold to see if it's gonna make the off-season more work than I want (adjusting the salaries down to 1970s level take some time). The Confederate League is also rethinking their DH experiment, as their offensive output hasn't been any better than the "purists" of the Union League since its inception five years ago.

Unlike MLB, the UBA still doesn't have a domed stadium or a park with artificial turf.
MLB 2007 The Show (PS3): Boston Red Sox
