Re: Ratings edits needed to fix simmed stat results
Originally posted by baa7Interesting… after reading your post, I spent a half hour simming seasons with the default roster vs my two edited rosters, plus DH vs No DH (the set-up I use) etc.
From what I can tell, the difference is the fielding ratings edits. When I simmed a season with the default rosters, the offensive numbers were fairly accurate as you mentioned. When I simmed using my roster with all the fielding ratings edits (P’s and position players) I always had 15-20 teams with team batting averages over .300 at the end of the season.
Now, given this game is unplayable without those edits (IMO) I personally would still choose the edited rosters and better game play, over default rosters and accurate simmed stat results. Regardless, it’s good you pointed out that the game isn’t as flawed as I made it out to be… thanks
What I don’t get though is that others have complained about the inaccurate simmed stat results. I wonder what’s going on with that? Plus, I was DEFINITELY getting simmed results with 20-25 batters with 200-250 strikeouts a season. And that shouldn't have anything to do with fielding ratings...!? I wonder what it is that was causing that."People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring." - Rogers HornsbyComment

Originally posted by baa7So do I, bugs and all (not me: the game). Question: Why, according to your other thread, aren't you happy playing franchise with 2K5? If you use the default rosters anyway, what's the reason?
I would be content with it except for two things: the confidence bug and injury bug. I have been using my set of sliders and really enjoying the game. I just restarted by GM Career as the Braves and after the first week and a half I was around .500 with a good variety of games that were a challenge. However, I hit my first series with the Nationals and low and behold every single player has little or no confidence. I had Hudson going and he completely shut them down with ease. Complete game, 10K's, 3 hits, 1 run. Now, I haven't played my next game yet, but I know their confidence will be just as low. Finally, the one I figure to be the biggest franchise bug for me is the injury bug. Injuries are a part of the real game and yet they are worthless with 2K5 because for some reason they don't work. I would like the challenge as the GM to try and work around injuries. My fix for that right now is I simulate a game per series (except against interdivision teams) and since injuries do work when it is a simulated game, it gives the opportunity for injuries to occur. It still is frustrating that I have to do this though."People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do.
