Blzer you are WAY too dramatic. You show me where I said it was unplayable. I said it was a mess. I've said I have no hope that they are going to fix the baseball part of the game. I've said I'd eat humble pie. Again you are way too dramatic.
I was referring to what you said right here:

In my book, that's sounding like without the tweaks, the game is unplayable. Well, fortunately (and unfortunately in your case), this is not a fact, as there is at least one person in the world that can play without it.

I'll make this analogous to a very crappy Fast and the Furious quote by Diesel:

"It doesn't matter if you win by an inch or a mile. Winning's winning."

Which is true. It doesn't matter if there is one exception or 100,000. A fact is a fact. When there is one exception, it is no longer a fact.

I hope that you read my post about confidence intervals and standard deviations. IMO, if programmed properly, I think that would be the thing that we would be looking for in terms of this game programming it properly. If you read the post, it talked about how there is a margin of error on the percentage of the time that you would have a tendency to do something. Perhaps I'll try and find the post later.

I don't think it will be a matter of 2K5 being fixed because as I understand it, it is a completely new engine. Still, I'm not holding my breath.

Obviously the game's playable. The issue is so much of it doesn't resemble anything that would actually happen in a real baseball game.

No new engine. You're mixing up Madden 360's old game engine which EA promoted as a new engine, I think.

Yes, but this game did not have a major freezing issue. If there was a game to compare this to, I suppose it would be MLB 2006. Frankly, I never had any freezing issues with MLB 2006, but I guess a lot of other people did.

Also, time and time again, I will reiterate it not because I'm arrogant, but because I want to make sure that you understand, that MLB 2K5: WSE is not supposed to be a version to show you of any indication as to how they were going to follow up with MLB 2K6. As a matter of fact, I'm happy that they're not... because then in a way, MLB 2K6 will be a little too much like MLB 2K5: WSE. I want a completely new game by the time springtime comes around, and I will get that with 2K6. Also, remember how I was saying that there wasn't much of the development team that was working on the WSE; all of their sweat and guts were spent during that time on MLB 2K6. They might have hired some guys off of the street that know code, and had them do it... you never know.

Also, I recall you saying something about comparing this game to Triple Play Baseball, yada-yada-yada. I may remind you that EA once was the owner of TPB, and that, although yes... they used a completely new engine, they turned the franchise around to make it completely sim. You don't need a new engine to make something sim, but they chose to anyway. As a matter of fact, they were working on what MVP 2003 turned out to be an 18-month project. Sources have told me that MLB 2K5 was a redesigned 9-month project from a brand new developer that hasn't made a baseball game before. I will say this again... but if I were you, I would give them a little more credit. Granted, I believe many consumed resources were wasted on features to attract kids (hence the smiling cube that I see when I load up the game), but I really have to hand it to them, and say that they deserve a second chance... even a third chance. EA asked for it, and they got it. It's Kush's turn.

I would be optimistic. They have had a 12-month cycle this time (because they didn't spend all of their time on MLB 2K5: WSE to try and make it an improved MLB 2K5... just World Series elements, remember), and this is their second time out. They've had a chance to see what the customers' needs are, and I'm sure they will fulfill a few of them. They have a good thing going... but it can't always be canned with pessimism. Give them a chance like we did with EA. A bad rep should never be created after one year.

Re: Whats soo great about INSIDE EDGE?.

MVP 2004 was broken. MLB 2K5 is, more or less, broken (with annoying patch-ups). Yet, people just knew somehow that MVP 2005 would fix everything wrong with 2004. No problem with that... I felt the same way. Yet, now that MLB 2K6 is coming along, so much optimism is being fed to us, and there are many pessimists that shun the game before it comes out... just because, again, of a strangely created bad rep that Kush got after their first attempt at a baseball game.
probably weren't addressing me directly Muff but I want so bad for 2K6 to be good. I'm getting excited about pitchers and catchers about to report soon. However, on xbox 360, 2k6 is my only hope. I have never liked the 2k baseball series. I loved the presentation last year but that game just played horrible to me. I'm sure the 360 version will be coming out after the xbox and PS2 so I do expect a more polished product. NBA 2K6 360 has given me hope. I hope Kush delivers. At this point, color me skeptical.

Then they really should have waited to do a WSE when they had a more polished version of the game to work with. Plain and simple, they did not put their best foot foward by putting in some special features and shine on top of something not very solid.

IMO their reason to make it was as good as any scamming company... they did it to make money, and I understand that. However, I'm surprised that you didn't expect that from the game. I've never seen a special edition game (especially when they already make games anually) get so many upgrades. This wasn't even a special edition case... it was a World Series Edition. They did exactly what the title on the cover of the game asked them to do: Include World Series elements in MLB 2K5. I've said before that we were lucky to get the passed ball glitch fixed, and have an option to remove the strike zone. My biggest upset with that game was that save files from MLB 2K5 were not recognizable, and that is an ultimate gamekiller. Why? Because it's supposed to be MLB 2K5. That's where they screwed up, and I understand that.

But just remember, as I will continue to say it for my own good health, that their devotion was not spent on the World Series Edition of the game, which is a good thing... because now we should get more out of MLB 2K6.

Oh, and recall when I was just talking about why we should have expected the same game... I did not mean that for MLB 2K6, though. When the number of the year changes, so should the quality of the product. We should expect better of this company. If they underperform, I will be ultimately dishearted. However, like EA (and their broken game in their second year), I will give them one final shot their third go-around before I give them the dunce cap.

Whoops, just re-read your post again, and understood what you're saying. I thought that you were saying that they should do it when they are more prepared to make a polished World Series version. My fault.

Oh well... I'm just going to say that they did it more from a financial standpoint. The WSE wasn't really meant for people that already had MLB 2K5 as much as for people that hadn't (again, an assumption).

Totally understand that it was a quick money making hit. I feel they screwed themselves a little because they chose to do it with a version of the game that was not the best. If they decide to do this again next year, everybody knows what to expect and 2k could be hearing crickets come the second release.
I know they were not probably targeting the original gamers from the spring but those are the ones most passionate about the game and they should have this in mind when they do a second release in a season.
