Erratic,
What difference does it make to you, really? My buddy plays on Manager Mode and I don't try to knock him for this. Who said anything about hitting and pitching here, it was an "assisted fielder" kind of thing.Comment

Re: is there gonna be auto fielding this year?
i agree jim416 there should be an option to play either way.i also think alll sports game's should have a true coach mode so if the player wanted to tell the players what to do and then just watch so be it.it's whatever makes the one who buys the game happy.Comment

Re: is there gonna be auto fielding this year?
I find the game better with auto fielding and I can field. Its just that they done nothing to upgrade this part of the game. The fielding in this game is not different than tony larussa baseball 92 for the genesis. Same thing no difference no upgrades in style of play when it comes to fielding and its only been like almost 15 years and 3 system generations later. I like what all star baseball tried to do with the fielding controls was alot more realistic. I wish all the other games took that approach. Sort of like the first person baseball idea they flirted with in 2k4. If they bring that back for fielding I might use it.Comment

Why would a game add an option to disallow people to play certain parts of their game... It's counter productive...Comment

Originally posted by catcatch22Because they know its flawed. You don't take away control of a certain part of the game unless you know it has flaws which will cause you to toss your tv sytem and remote out the window. Take away the flaws of the control and then I would use it. Its like in certain football games do you actually go cover the wideout with your corner manually? of course not because of camera and control issues you leave that up to the ai. Actually in football games I would love the ability to shut down a top wr on another team with my corner manually in a game but because of the camera and flawed controls in many games it just doesn't work. Now if they upgraded the controls and made it more realistic and not so cumbersome more people would use it.
For example you brought up football... Yeah the DB thing is bad, but if you play as say, the safety and follow the play then you can make a lot of plays similarly if you manually switch to the DB you will get better results instead of letting the AI do it...
See a trend here... Do for yourself instead of wanting others to do for you...Comment

Re: is there gonna be auto fielding this year?
If they haven't fixed it in 15 years of baseball gaming. Then I am definitely not waiting for a miracle with this game. There should be no reason why a simple ground ball can turn into a double or a simple single to the outfield turn into a inside the park homerun and not for bad fielding by the user but poor ai switching and poor camera.Comment

Honestly if you actually move you infielders and outfields into the right position, like they do in real life, then it isn't a problem imo...Comment

Originally posted by catcatch22You obviously have not played the nfl 2k series enough over the years and its jumping db's. If you've played that game several times right before when you manually switch the db is already out of position or already doing some stupid jump for the ball animation. If they gave me adequate controls then and a better camera then that problem would be sovled.Comment

Re: is there gonna be auto fielding this year?
Erratic,
Wait a minute here. For one, the camera angles (almost non-existent in this game) are crappy, big time. I had to use speed burst for the outfielders when I played because I was just not quick enough to respond once the ball was hit off the bat. Coupled with losing the ball in the air, geez man, you might be superman with the controller and your reflexes, and good for you, but don't tell me this game didn't have some real issues with the cameras. That in itself warrants some kind of "assisted" fielding for players. If not for you, then great.Comment

Re: is there gonna be auto fielding this year?
Originally posted by ErraticI've never had these things you mention happen... If a ball gets by the infielder it becomes a single instead of a double... If it gets by my outfielder then it depends upon my placement. I would have to have my outfielders shallow and miss for a runner with the speed of Jose Reyes to get an inside the park hr...

A line drive grounder to my shortstop with reyes should be easy if they give me his controls instead of wright. So now the ball goes to my outfield and the runner gets to first, I switch to get floyd but they give me beltran. A simple ground ball out turns into a double with a guy like furcal, Rediculous!!Comment

The fielding camera has never been a problem... There is a shadow or whatever that shows where the ball in the outfield will land... I run to it... If it gets by the infielders my outfielders get it... I mostly play deep coverage or shade left or right. I very very rarely play them shallow. Again I also do the same with my infielders... I really haven't noticed the things you talked about..
EDIT: the only time I have gotten the 3b instead of SS or visa versa is when there is a dribler to either side of the field...Comment
