    Re: POTD 2/14/06

The swing animations are lame. The batters don't step into the ball. They pick their foot up and put it down in the same spot. From behind it's hard to tell, but on replays, the swings are really anemic. You'd think after all this time they'd put some serious effort into making this better.

In fact, I don't like a lot of the animations in general. They seem so.. i dunno.. manufactured. MYP's animations are so fluid. To see 2K's after spending time with MVP is almost painful.

And what's with the sound of the bat? It sounds like they're breaking driftwood over a fence post.

I dunno. I'll watch for the reviews, and if the gameplay is solid I might check it out, but as it stands, I'm not very impressed. Nice details in the stadiums, but that's about it.

Don't buy it. Funny that you didn't find ANYTHING, that pleased you in the vids other than the stadiums.

The players look skinny like carboard cut outs. The animations are not smooth. I hope the 360 version will have better player models and animations.

That and the fact the BOSTON crowd is chanting "Lets go YANKEES" while Ortiz is up.

This is one of the few MAJOR reasons why I get upset when I try to play this series. The absolute worst swing animations since RBI baseball on NES. I just can't take it, and it looks even worse when slowed down. Ugh, why in 5 years, can't they have changed the disgusting swing, rin and throw animations. Oh and nice pizza gloves once again. Though these are maybe just mediums instead of the extra larges of the past.

Is it me or have the fixed the swing animations when a player swings and misses, but when they make contact it still looks like pooh?

Oh well, I saw alot of improvements from 2k5 in those three videos. I'm getting pretty pumped for this game. Less than a month away!

                  Re: POTD 2/14/06

Liked some of what I saw but had my dislikes as well.

Dont like the swing animations. WAYYYYYYYY too much torque even on opposite field swings.

Cora breaking into a planted throwing animation when he clearly was on the run when he caught the ball. When Loretta fielded the ball heading towards first, he should have tossed to the ball on the run. he didnt, sprinted towards the bag then stopped and tossed.

I liked Cano's error then attempt to throw off the back foot, that looked good.

Liked the pitching "meter", cant wait to give it a try.

Gonna pick this up at launch ofr my PS2 but i wanna see some 360 action already. Cmon!

You're warning me about personal attacks???? All I did was state an opinion and than got slammed by a guy that gives this thread 10 pages worth of defensive comments because he see's the game differently.

                    What is that about?

My guess is Aholbert took exception to you calling him a "2K Homer". That type of stuff isn't tolerated on OS. A good, healthy debate is, but not labeling or calling someone a name.

Yeah, well you'd be stiff to if it were 20F where you live...

Here's what's a bit weird: two big problems with 2K5 were passed balls and all games starting in 20F temperatures. But then they go and show a video for the new game with these same to things going on...??!!

I'm going to assume all that's fixed, but WEIRD that they would go out of their way to include that in the videos, after last year.

Yeah, that really is strange isn't it. Coupled with the batter batting in the one video with no batting helmet on and.......jeezaloo, sloppy. Well, maybe not sloppy afterall. Maybe it really hasn't been fixed.

I think it's a combo of slapping these vids together in a rush, along with their not even knowing or realizing some of these problems existed -- like the temperature thing. Truthfully: do they EVEN KNOW that in 2K5 the pitcher will continue to pitchout to your batter, even after your runner on second has been picked off? How can they fix what they aren't aware of?

That's scary to think. They don't know about this stuff? To tell you the truth I never paid any atttention to that, the temperature on the screen, and I picked up on it as soon as I saw the video.

Man, they have lots of work to do in 30 days.
