I just got this game today (from Gamefly) and when I started it up, there was no indication of a patch being downloaded, or a request to download it (360 version).

I formatted my HD tonight and when I started MLB2K6, it did prompt me to download the the patch.

Not sure why it didn't prompt you. Possibly different versions of the game and places like Gamefly have newer version? Seems doubtful, but it's about the only way to explain it.

No way am I doing that, especially for a rental. I removed the hard drive and saved my settings, VIP, rosters onto memory card and it worked fine. Stupid that I should be required to do that for a complete game, but at least I was able to see an entire game (and come to the conclusion that I'll stick with MVP w/ 2006 mod on my PC for my MLB fix this year).

Ok when i first got the game It would freeze during those little cut sceans after a strikeout. I got the patch and formatted my hard drive and now it does not freeze at the point but now it freezes during those stupid little triva things inbetween innings. Any ideas?

I have read through a few posts here, but don't have the time to read all the way through.. I am thinking about picking this game up, so did the patch fix a majority of the issues ya'll were having, or did it make them worse?

ive only had one freeze throughout playing this game,post and pre patch, it happend after downloading the patch. as for recommending this game i would say no if your a casually gamer, theres just so many flaws, ie. basrunning,fielding,and commentary, this 0 homeruns thing is driving me nuts, so unless u love baseball or like clumsey games save your loot. rent it first. u decide.

After the patch it corrected my problems with NBA2K6 where I lost the half time vids, but then I get crazy graphical issues with NBA2K6 now. MLB2K6 I feel like really screwed up many of our systems one way or another.

issues as in player shadows or a streak of some kind following players now and then?

Believe it or not, sometimes the jerseys disappear for a few seconds or their jerseys turn black and then I even get a freeze for a few seconds and then resumes right back.
