And furthermore, I do not allow the computer to control my fielders or my baserunners. Allowing the user control over fielding and baserunning adds realism to the game so long as the user has had sufficient practice and knows how to properly field and run the bases. Plus, the computer tends to be conservative whereas some users may enjoy a little aggression on the bases. I do not let the computer control these aspects simply because it takes away from the fun of the game as well.

I wont get EA's MVP baseball either. A lot of first year sports titles are weak.
NBA / NFL 2k
ASB 99 (N64)
WSB ( Dreamcast version)
I beg to differ with you. NBA 2K and NFL 2K were both great games for their time, and were even more impressive considering they were first efforts. ASB 99 on N64 was also a really solid game. I will give you WSB 2K1, because the auto fielding and a couple other issues killed that game.Comment

All I said is that the gameplay in WSB is not up to par with that of High Heat, and that is a fact.

ZOooooooommmmmmmmm! That was the point going way over your head. I dont think anyone can explain it to you any better than it has already been explained.Comment

FatPitcher -
Points taken.
I do think we agree on more things than we disagree on.
I'd still like to see some more "auto" options in WSB, but your rationale for not including them this year is reasonable.
If the camera angles are more manageable, and the gameplay (as you defined it) is better - i.e, more effective double play turns, better cut-off functionality, and so on - then WSB will likely be the best overall baseball game this year.
As I stated earlier - I enjoyed High Heat, but it is drastically lacking in both graphics and sound, and its comparatively abysmal presentation will undoubtedly hamper its sales among "mainstream" gamers...
Best of luck this season - I appreciate both your presence and voice on these boards.Shawn Drotar

BDoughty, with all due respect, when someone is rude to me, I feel I have the right to be rude back. If someone asks me something, I am not rude. If someone is rude to me, what goes around comes around.
Driddy - son, I thought you were dead. You haven't insulted me in a while. I guess you were due. And again, I did not say HH was better than WSB. I said it is a widely agreed statement that HH has better GAMEPLAY. And I prefer gameplay. But that doesn't make it better to everyone. To me, yes. To everyone, no. And again, I did not call anyone stupid for having a preference. I simply stated that gameplay in HH is superior. Some people prefer graphics.Comment

Skyboxer, that is a good point about the word GAMEPLAY! You are right, HH does have the best results, while I thought WSB was the funnest to play (when the AI scored anyway)!
I would be careful Padgoi, I got booted by Bdoughty for a whileI deserved it too!!!!

Re: Xbox owners : WSB should be all you need.
I think that we all should consider ourselves lucky that we have three (possibly 4) good baseball titles to choose from this year. People are very picky about there baseball and the fan specturm ranges from casual to cult-like.
Many of the posters at OS are very serious about their baseball and prefer to play games that lean toward the SIM side of things. But do SIM baseball games bring in the money? Not necessarily. Look at NFL2K3, considered by many to be the most realistic football game ever, yet it got crushed in sales by Madden.
So I think we are lucky that developers are willing to put out a product that caters to the die hard fans like us. (HH, OOTP, and hopefully ASB). What other sport have so may good chioces? Football-no. Basketball - hell no. College football - super hell no.PSN: christophertoyComment
