The only thing I saw in the video I did not like was when the double play is being turned the first baseman cathes the ball with two hands. How many first baseman use two hands to catch the ball on a play at first?

I did not play last year's game so I am going to get 2k7 with an open mind.

You don't need to stride to hit the ball with power.

It's just a preference if someone swings that way.

Blzer's swing is very good. It's solid at the base, his hips have power behind them, his swing is level, and he keeps his bat in the zone as soon as he drops his wrists - allowing him to foul off a fastball he's late on.

All of that is basically all you need to drive the ball.
"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

"You'll not find more penny-wise/pound-foolish behavior than in Major League Baseball." - Rob Neyer

Sure if it is fastball right down the middle, but you might want to step in to an away pitch or out for in inside pitch. But it is all good his swing look good. With Metal bats it doesn't matter how you swing you make contact it is gone lol. Eveybodies swing is different you go with what works for you.

Anyone notice that the Pirates Shortstop was wearing sunglasses... I don't think that was in 2k6... if it was, correct me... but I thought that was a nice added touch.

I think they had glasses on in the 360, but I think they stay on the whole team even in night games. can't remember.

Yeah, I noticed that and posted that I think on my first post. As a matter of fact, there are so many little things like that added that it really brings out individuality in players. I hope The Show does these little things as well.

I've seen Jack Wilson wear sunglasses, but not very often. Kind of odd to see them choose him.

Either that or they were playing a game with Jose Hernandez at SS for the Pirates. He wears shades almost every game. He might want to stop though as he can't hit a damn thing.

It's neither Wilson nor Hernandez. That's Jose Castillo.

Hmmm, that's odd.... I don't know why they have him at SS as he hasn't played there since the minors. He's always been at 2B (EDIT - He played 2 IP at the MLB level at SS in 2004).

Oddly enough, Castillo might not even start this year. Rumor has it Sanchez will start at 2B, Wilson at SS and Bautista at 3B.

Nobody said that he was the shortstop in that video. As a matter of fact, my high school team always had the 2B covering the bag anyway. It makes for an easier tag if there's an offline throw (consider a SS running to second and having to stop and reach across his body for an offline throw to his right, and having to continue his momentum to tag the runner out thereafter). At least with a 2B, if there's an offline throw to his right, that's okay because it's like a lead throw and his momentum is going that way. If there's an offline throw to his left, he can catch it on that side and drop his glove from there for the tag out.

                          Anyway, I'm positive that's Castillo.

I watched the video again and what I initially thought was wrong. I thought the Pirate player was taking a throw from the SS side of 2B. In that case, it couldn't have been the 2B as there would be no reason for the 2B to approach 2B from the SS side of the bag.

Now that I re-watched it appears it was a SB attempt and the 2B was covering. Either that or the player was covering a throw from 1B (in that case the SS should cover the bag in most instances as it's easier for him to handle a throw....assuming he approaches 2B in the proper manner). I actually played a lot of SS throughout my life before I started pitching in late HS, so I remember how we handled throws from different directions.

In any case, I think it is Castillo as it appears to be a 14...which is Castillo's number. Maybe they'll update the rosters later when they realize Castillo is most likely not going to start at 2B unless he tears the cover off the ball in the spring. Then again, it's an easy roster fix for users and I doubt 2K will even realize Castillo isn't likely to start.

You guys are too funny. lmao. Blzer maybe you should make a video of that outside. To show us who is suppose to cover the bag! lol Any ways it a demo. I hope they don't where the glasses all the time.

Well, if you watch the video again you'll see that the ball is coming from the catcher and there is no runner going to first. Hence, it is indeed a stolen base (and I guess we both agree that it's Castillo).
