It's obvious that the swings are different when comparing the games.

Everything about the swing in 2k6 is wrong. Definitely no hip or lower body being used in the swing until after contact is made. When you see a player hit a homerun on that swing it makes it unrealistic.

The second gif is much cleaner and realistic. A bit jumpy in the animation, but the lower body does the job and like you mentioned the hands don't roll over in 2k7.

Getting Ben Brinkman on the team is one of the best decisions by a videogame company ever made. That guy knows how to make a great baseball game (MVP Baseball).

I see it the same way. I just want some more videos asap to get a better feel for how this game will really play.

The one thing to consider about the new swing clip is, Jeter (rather, whom ever is using him CPU/user) looks as though his timing is off and the resulting hit was popped up...not hit cleanly. Perhaps that could explain any strange reactions people are having.

Still, the clip looks about 300% better than last year. I am pretty stoked!

Check out the bottom-right of the new gif, in the dugout. It looks like players on the bench are going to react to in-game moments, sort of like they do in NBA 2k? Notice how a couple of them start to move when Jeter hits that ball? Kind of cool.

          I'm ready for more!

Strange, I could have sworn I posted that here already. Err, somebody mentioned the on-deck guys, and then I replied to him about the dugout reactions.

EDIT: Nevermind. I posted it on the 2K Sports forums. Good eye, though.

                Re: 2K7 preview and trailer

I am truly praying for a solid performance from 2k this year, I miss that game. Back five years or so when we had the choice of High Heat, All-Star, MLB, MVP, and 2k, I came to enjoy 2k the best because of the indepth sliders, and you could play a season and not be stuck with being just one team, thus being able to manage all rosters. Those two items were always huge to me, and even though I loved MLB The Show, I had to live with that game lacking those features.

I am sort of a graphics hound, but overall I do prefer a game that allows me total control and more accurate game-play, a la 2k of old. I had a go with every baseball game made, and loved certain parts of all of them. In my dream world we would form a dream design team that would take all of the great features of all those games and produce the ultimate game.

The best out of those choices was High Heat. The stats were always ultra-realistic, and the gameplay was pretty darn good. When 3DO went under, MVP Baseball took the crown.

Ever since the exlusive licensing agreement, I haven't played a good baseball game yet. Hopefully, this game delivers.

HIgh Heat was great gameplay wise, but the graphics sucks. lol Still a solid game. MVP was a great game, but the Show to me blew MVP away.

And they took this feature out last year. Let's see if it's put back in, but for some reason, I doubt it will.

yes the graphics were pretty bad, but back in the 2002, 2003 days, the graphics weren't a huge thing to me at the time considering all games didn't look that nice.

Okay, so I don't know if anyone cares or not, but I quickly went outside... camera, gloves, wristbands, bat... whatever... and took a one-handed swing from the left side, and slowed it down for you guys:

(pretend I hit a flyball into right field )

At the time I didn't consider the stance stride or the follow-through and exiting out of the box, or going two-handed, or swinging from the right side or whatever. I just did it quickly to come back inside (it's COLD!). But I was just wondering what you thought in terms of what a swing should probably look like in this game. Note that I watch Bonds a lot and study how he goes through the zone, so I'm probably much more compact than anybody else when they look at a swing.

If you are swinging that high then you will have trouble lol. Was the fake ball at your eyes! Any ways that was cool!

Oh blah, hush silly! It was just a quick swing that I didn't even care about the height with. Next time I go outside and do that, I'll take height into consideration along with everything else. But it's not my camera, and that was the important part of the rush haha. My parents don't want me using it and they are already back from eating, so I just had to be quick.

Anyway, what I'm saying is that this is an example of what to do, and 2K6 is an example of what not to do (or of what's impossible to do).

Maybe since I'm locked in my room with the camera right now, I'll quickly do a 2K6 side swing gif.
