What makes New Features part of a new game? The only company I know of that thinks New Features makes a new game is EA. Refining, improving, added details, tweaking, tuning - That's a new game.
Exactly! Perfectly stated- couldn't quite articulate that in my previous post!

As long as this game doesn't make me break my disc in half I'll be ok with it. Some of you may know what I'm referring to. But honestly this is what I've been looking for any developer to do. If you got something out there tweak it next year. Don't try to constantly re-invent the wheel.

This is the best plan any sports game has ever had! I am not a fan of all the gimmic modes and features. I think they add that stuff for the younger people who play the game for more of an arcade experience instead of a sim game.

I always wanted the camera to be more level with the field and that has finally been implimented.

Next year I hope they innovate the way we catch fly balls and field the grounders. I'm looking for a way to look up at the ball and be able to judge it somehow by the height and speed of the ball coming at you. Fielding the ball has been the same forever and is need of some creativity. I really like a behind the back view and with the proper camera work that would be a very fun way to play defense.

I hope they fixed the organ music so it only plays between the action and not when the plays are happening. That was always annoying to me. It played with little to no meaning.

Right, cause EA never refines, tweaks and tunes their products... ever.

Show me where I said EA doesn't do those things and I'll give you a cookie.

It's not OK with me because MLB2k6 was one of the worst games I have ever played. I hate Inside Edge, hated the gameplay, I wanted a completely new engine. The only chance I'll buy this year's version is if it gets incredible praise on OS.

Inside Edge is a great feature - it just wasn't implemented well.

But, for players to play like their counterparts (most importantly pitchers), that's always a great new feature for a game.

I would have preferred that they just give us scouting reports on every player - if you want to read them then you can, but you don't have to - and just have the players play like their counterparts.

I ended up never using any IE points because I didn't want to know where an opposing pitcher would likely throw a pitch (though, I feel it is valuable information to have - it should be my option to read or view the scouting reports on my own time to know those things).

Inside Edge has the capabilities of being very similar to NBA 2k's signature system with player tendencies. I hope that MLB 2k7 builds on the idea and incorporates it in a similar way.

I was excited about the feature, but I think it was horribly implemented, especially when hitting. There shouldn't be all these complicated numbers on the screen when you're at the plate.

I'm fine with a refined 2k6, and I hated 2k6. The problem wasn't with the design, it was with the implementation. If they can fix what's already in the game so that it plays a reasonably realistic game of baseball, I'll buy it. I like what I've seen so far in the trailers.

I truely believe we'll be happy. It will at least be playable. Yes, fielding will still need work and won't be perfected but it won't be as horrid as last year where you're able to dive and make every play. I know this for a fact after playing it at CES. They actually bobble the ball and not catch it if you've not timed it perfectly. Balls also get thru the infield easier.. maybe too easy but I can't be for sure as I didn't field enough of them with my time with the game which leads to another issue about not enough ground balls and too many fly hits.

I for one am going to enjoy the hell out of this game. I enjoyed last years unbelievably online. It only got better from what I saw at CES. Not perfect but definitely REFINED. Batter/pitcher interface is awesome in my eyes.

I suppose defining the word 'refined' is step one. Refined in your eyes may not be refined in my eyes.

I didnt buy last yrs version because the reviews were horrendous. I have better things to spend my $60 on and with my limited gaming time, I need to pick AAA titles.

A title like Sony's MLB could use refinement and small additions to make it great. My other example is how the nba2k game refined from 06 to 07. Its a fantastic game now. However, from what I read, the mlb2k game really needs a big overhaul. They need to take a giant leap forward to gain our trust, and deliver a fun and realistic game. Im not sure baby steps will get the job done. As I said, I have other uses for 60 dollars.

Ok, you have a point. Refined is not the right word. More like.. "Improved Upon". Its at least 'improved upon' by 75%. The other 25% is left to the fielding, types of hits, and some animations. I fully expect next years offering to be 95% improved upon. If you are a baseball fan it would be hard not to enjoy this offering from 2k. At least rent the damn thing! Life is short. If you didn't enjoy baseball you wouldn't be here in these discussions. Last I checked I'm not able to take my possessions or my $60 with me after I die.

Also, I've never owned a game that was 100% perfect. And you prolly never will.
