When playing ranked games, I find that using the swing stick in the advanced lobby gives you the most realistic games online. Too many people are trying to justify why the classic batting isn't easier than the other, but it's a known fact from the general consensus that classic batting turns the online ranked games into an HR derby.
Doesn't matter if its classic or SWingstick...In fact more HR's have been hit in my league with players using the Swing Stick as opposed to classic...Don't wanna hear this Swing Stick nonsense...The game is too easily leaning toward HR's no matter what style of batting you use.

I have only hit like 3 homeruns in all-star in our OS League. I'm using the swing stick, perhaps that is the issue.

Re: MLB 2k7 Thoughts & Opinion on the Game

I don't know about anyone else, but I am having an absolute blast with this game. I made some slider changes (a combo of heels and dans), use the swing stick and am playing as the Royals in GM mode. Thus far I am 3-7 having just lost to the O's 5-4 on a 3 run bomb by Aubrey Huff in the 8th off of Joel Peralta. In 10 games I only have 6 homers with 2 coming off of Dice-k in game 3 (Sanders and Sheely). Meche has an ERA of 4.82 in 2 starts while my stud #3 DelaRosa is 1-0 with 2.10 era. Everyone else is about what you would expect.

I know the game has issues, but the on field stuff and the concept of the gm mode (menus, presentation) are great. Just my 2 cents.

Re: MLB 2k7 Thoughts & Opinion on the Game

Oh...I love the game too...I just wish scoring was more balanced and not all about HR's...I see too many pitches that should never be HR balls knocked outta the park. The sliders my league is using seem to be toning them down a bit though.

My only other problem with the game is reading the pitches...That part of the gam,e needs to be improved because often its a guessing game as the pitches often come very fast and its hard to tell a ball from a strike at times. That being said I have a team BA of .282 which aint bad...I think about a half nano-second more would remedy the problem

I have to agree with the original poster re: reading the pitches out of the pitcher's hand. It would help if they had the proper rotation for breaking pitches but the big thing to me is that all pitches have the same trajectory for the first 1/3 of their flight to homeplate, seemingly.

Gotcha. I really haven't seen that online eitehr. But it maybe the fact that the people I am playing with, and myself simply aren't that good at hitting.

I gave up and sold the game. I had the power swing and power down at 0 and was still hitting out about 8 hrs a game. Pujols had 22 hrs through 10 games. I moved up to legend and was still hitting them. Everygame was a slugfest because I wasn't that good at pitching. Back to MVP '05. Hopefully next years game will work out for me.

I played with my cousin this past weekend and I feel you man. We hit a lot of homeruns over the course of about 6 or 7 games. I hit monster blast with Big Papi that was low and away at his shoe strings holding up on the left stick. (classic hitting). That homerun left both of us shaking our heads. Every hit wasn't a homerun in all the games but for a while I was like damn, I wish he could hit just one double and score a runner instead of a blast. Yeah i can't give this game an 8 either. I like the game but there are a lot of things that you have already described that make the game below an 8. Seriously if I didn't look at these boards how would I know about the slider saving crap. The franchise ai is crazy too. But if you can seriously overlook that stuff then fine make it an 8 or even a 9. It is a great game compared to other past titles, but cmon.

You can't even break up double plays and the collision detection is similar to Madden.

How about you guys stop trying to hit HRs by holding up with the Classic Swing?? Did you ever think of that? All you do is complain about HRs when you are attempting to hit them every pitch. Put Contact at 20 and Power at 30 and do not use the Left Stick at all. You will be lucky to hit 1 a game. I have my sliders posted in the sliders forum. Try them and bat like I said, dont touch the left stick and then come back and tell me how many HRs you hit then. Rant is over, I'm done........

I'm sorry but if that's what I got to do to not hit homeruns then it's not worth it. Just pushing a button to swing the bat and nothing else is 10 steps backwards in baseball video gaming. That is a very boring approach to hitting and that why I'm complaining. I wanted a more true basball simulation as far as hitting goes and this game does not deliver. Just pushing the a button is not even close.
