Re: patch coming?
the way this thread has gone is so typical on these boards. don't get me wrong, there isn't any other place to get such a wealth of info on sports gaming. it's just sad that you have to wade through all of the bs to get it.
the pattern goes like this. somebody asks a question or makes a comment about the game. inevitably very few legit reponses are made before the haters take the threat hostage. before long the threat degenrates into a pissing contest between those who hate and those who are defending the game and your lucky if one in five posts has anything to do with the original question or topic.
so, after reading through page after page of bickering we can determine that there is no legitimate info as to whether or not a patch will come out, there are various reasons to speculate both that there will be and that there won't be, some people hate the game, some people like it and i'm sorry i asked.Originally posted by Edmund BurkeAll that is needed for the triumph of evil, is for good men to do nothing.Comment

Re: patch coming?
I have to agree with Baa on this one... use one of the many great sliders in the sliders section. When you play, don't push up on the right analog stick or edit your players. This is what I do (and many others) and the homerun amount is reasonable. The solution is really pretty easy.Comment

Re: patch coming?
Well I agree that 2k has greatly improved its baseball game...I'm just saying, it's taken them pretty frickin long to get to a point that other games reached a long time ago. Oh well. HOPEFULLY theres a patch....cuz the bugs still are pretty lame. I still dont think MVP had any bugs that are as killing as this game, but lets forget about that.Comment

Re: patch coming?
what am i going on about? are you for real? look back over the last several count the number of post that anything to do with a possible patch versus all of the bickering between those who like the game and those who don't. and as for the recomended fix on the first page, that posts was actually somewhat contructive and actually relevant. however, setting the power sliders to zero still doesn't do the trick and user restraint on the swing stick is kind of cheap. i think most people would agree that a patch that made use of the power swing more realistic and maybe more of a risk/reward would be preferred. and there are several other minor bugs that could be fixed with a patch that would make this game a decent game a pretty good game.Comment

just ignore this dude, hes an ***. what i recommend is putting batter influence all the way up, power numbers down to zero, and your contact 30 -40. batter influence seems to helped tremendously for me. its the slider that determines inside edge influence on your hitters. however im confused as to why its higher for rookie mode , but drops lower for allstar, and legend.
with it low, seems like anyone can hit HRs. with it High it seems like inside edge comes into effect and really only hit HRs based on that individual players tendencies. with it adjusted to 100 , ive even preloaded the bat in hopes of home runs at certain times in a game, and failed to get it, alot. so it seems like it should be really low on rookie setting then as you increase in difficulty it raises higher.Comment

anyway, if you can look past the whole i'm an *** thing, i have a question about how that slider you (findinghomer) mentioned works. seems to me, one (or maybe all) of the high heat games had a slider similar to this. seems like it just called a simulation slider or something like that. i love realism, but it seemed like once you moved this slider to far to the sim side, you skill didn't matter because the player ratings just took over in order to generate realistic stats. realistic yes, but no sense of accomplishment. is that the way this slider works in 2k7, or does it simply make the user have to be aware of their batter's hot and cold zones and skill zones, thus making it more challenging and realistic, but at the same time in your control? i'm hoping you can answer in the affrimative on that and when i get home, i'll have to do some testing on that myself. if this works for toning down the homeruns, then great. that's one less thing we'll be dependent on a patch for.Comment

Lowering power to 0 does work as far as cutting WAY back on the HR's. And if you don't want to let off on pushing up with the stick, then do what I did - lower your team's Power and HR ratings. Or you could sit around and wait for a patch that won't be coming.Comment

Re: patch coming?
I think it is official that a patch won't be coming. The IGN interview with Brinkman made it seem as though they had already begun work on 2k8 to correct the problems of 2k7. Meaning, they are not going to correct any problems with 2k7 until 2k8. Sorry fellas. Maybe now you can enjoy the game as it is, rather than wait for the non-existant patch.Overall satisfaction also makes the decline!!!!!!!!!!!!Comment

Oh, and this is just my opinion, but I don't think these companies like to release patches. It makes them look like they released an unfinished product and it gives non-online gamers a bad taste in their mouths, because they can't update their games so easily.Last edited by EXboxur; 04-05-2007, 03:43 PM.........................Operation Sports Champions League 2 Champion........................Comment

Re: patch coming?
I kind of got the same feeling too after reading that article. If a patch were coming I think he would've at least mentioned it during the interview to ease people's ill feelings about the bugs.

I'm not so sure he would have mentioned a patch in a public interview, but I'm not going to sit around and wait for it either.Comment

Re: patch coming?
I'm a PC gamer as well as a console gamer, and I've seen games go through six or more patches before the next pay-version of a title hits the shelves, and PC games typically cost $10-20 dollars less than console titles!
With the existence of online services for both the 360 and the PS3, I don't think they have any really legit excuse for stiffing us on a patch. That's not to say they won't stiff on us a patch...odds are they will; I still have the right to consider it distasteful, however.Comment
