The guys on this thread are mirroring EXACTLY how i play this game and my thoughts on it.

With great sliders, proper pitching, plate patience, this game now plays as close to a real game of baseball as ive ever seen.

I cannot wait to get my Memory card and exchange kit to get updated rosters and go and start my dynasty. It sounds like you guys are having tons of fun which is awesome to hear. Hopefully that can happen for me as well.

I have no problem recording my sliders and posting them here, but in my opinion, this game requires a lot of personal slider adjustments depending on how you play. I think there are a couple of sliders that nearly everyone will agree on including baserunning speed being raised, arm power lowered, power lowered if using classic hitting, but besides those, I think a lot of it is really personal. Can anyone else think of some major "must-changes" that I'm missing?

Oh, I forgot one, pitcher fatigue definitely needs to be adjusted in accordance with the slightly low pitch counts. If I remember correctly, out of the box, CPU pitchers get yanked way too fast, and your own guys can last way too long.

Another thing I love about this game is how pitchers can sometimes have a bad inning or two, but it doesn't mean they're going to be hittable the entire game. I scored three runs off of Santana in the opening frame the other night, only to be completely shut down for the next six innings and I didn't change my philosophy at the plate at all.

Alright the ones I'm using now I am probabally going to adjust. The ball's speed when pitched is very slow so I'm probabally going to adjust that and some others. Hopefully I can get results like you guys are getting.

The game's been out long enough for us to really make a true final judgment about it.

That said,
I think the post-patch definitely calls for a re-review from IGN and the other media outlets--- which is insane because patches were never this big.

I play the game every other day or so. It's a letdown for my lazy friends that don't use sliders. I'm playing a completely different game from them basically.

My two baseball-gaming friends are addicted to MLB The Show---they take their created players through a career. They love it--it's all they ever talk about,"I won the Cy Young today. I struck out 17 yesterday".

I hope 2K8 has that feature.

What was the patch for and where can I get it?

This game became great again the second I switched to classic batting... Boy do I hate the swing stick. It's too complicated. My main problem is, when I use it, I swing at everything. Once I step, I just can't stop myself from releasing the right thumbstick resulting in many swinging strikes. Now that I'm back to classic batting, I'm loving this game!

If you have Xbox Live, it updates automatically. If you do not have Live, I don't know how you get it.

Well I should recieve my memory card in the mail today so it looks like I will have accurate rosters today.

All I can say is that the sliders I have are awesome. I haven't won a game yet. I have been close but still have yet to win. Here are my results.

Game one- Brewers @ Cubs(Me) I lost 9-4. I boosted Ryan Brauns ratings before I played and made changes to the rosters so it was similar to real life. Braun absolutely kicked my butt. He had two HR's and I just couldn't get him out. I only bumped him up to a 77 OVR.

Game two- Mets @ Braves(Me) I lost in extras when I made a mistake to Delgado in the 10. Really fun game. I think the final was 3-2 or 4-3. I had to comeback in order to get it to extras. Also my boy who was traded from my fav. team the Twins Luis Castillo had a hell of a night. I think he drove in 2 of the mets runs

Game three- Marlins(Me) @ Phillies Another thrilling game. I was up 4-3 in the bottom of the 8th and Pat Burrell hits a two run shot off Jorge Julio. In the 9th I had Uggla(I think) on 2nd with Willingham at the plate. I strike out with Willingham and I lose 5-4.

All of the games were awesome. I didn't hit many HR's. I had one in each game with all legit guys. In the first game I hit one with D. Lee. In game two I hit one with Texiera. In game three I hit one with Miguel Cabrera.

I can't wait to get Chris' rosters and start a dynasty with the Twins. Maybe I'll be able to sign Torii Hunter haha!

That's what im thinking about. Im really enjoying this game alot right now. Im not even playing madden cause im more into my season. Next years game is going to be bananas!!!

I went out and bought this game about a week ago and it has been great. I'm still slightly tweaking sliders for taking pitches by the CPU, but this game is light years better after the patch. I'm looking forward to 2K9 as well.

Really?...what are the improvements post patch?..did they fix the franchise glitch where the CPU screws the CPU team line-ups?....I did rent the game when it came out, I did like the improvements from from last years game(2K6) but I didn't like the way the outfield camera and the Franchise issues.

The patch doesn't fix the lineup problem, but I don't think you can fix that. Also, the game plays much better. I don't know why, but it does!

they added a new camera angle(pole cam) that makes playing the field fun..and they also cleaned up some of the other gameplay bugs.

i avoided this game when it first came out because of gameplay issues,but once i heard about the patch i picked it up and have been enjoying every minute of it.
