Re: FatPitcher, a couple of WSB questions

The swing animations in general for WSB2k3 are some of the worst I've seen in any baseball game. I don't know how I'll go back to playing it now that I've played MVP for a week.

      Fat...

Please fix swing animations (motion cap a real ballplayer...even a minor leaguer). Also, would love it if I did not have to field...or could just throw...alot of us are terrible at fielding but would not mind throwing to the bases (ala MVP, High Heat, etc...).

            Fatpitcher,

Thanks for your patience and your replies. I've felt that your posts, including those from last year, have been very fair when describing your game and your competition. I have a few questions I'm hoping you'll take a stab at.

            In your mind:

            1. What are the 3 most important improvements to WSB2k3?

            2. What are the 3 most dissapointing things about WSB2k3?

The fact that WSB does not have body scaling and is not very good at recreating stances and pitching motions is very dissapointing to me. In my mind, that is the single most important part of recreating the experience of playing with Barry Bonds,[insert any name], etc. And it has been that way since WSB2k2. WSB2k1 by WOW still blows away any of the VC versions of WSB when it comes to this area. It is also very suprising since WSB is billed as an eye candy / arcadish brand of baseball.

            <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

The importance of improvements and the degree of disappointment depends on what parts of the game matter to you the most.

Personally, the 3 more important improvements are (in no particular order):
            1. Franchise mode overhaul. Last year it got good press but wasn't really that great. This year it's more deserving.

            2. Pitching AI rewrite. Plays a lot more like real ball, and is more challenging and tricky as well.

            3. Option/slider/difficulty additions. Since the play outcomes in WSB are heavily skill-based, it's critical to have the ability to customize the game to your skill level if you want realistic results. Last year we underestimated how good the best players would be and didn't make the AI tweakable aside from the overall difficulty.

            Biggest disappointments:
            1. Batting animations. One of very few parts of the game where the competition is obviously better.

            2. Player faces. Too many up-and-coming players have generic heads.

            3. No player scaling. Another area that's readily apparent to everybody where the competition has has something that we don't.

            <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

Just wanted to put this up again to let everyone know that ESPN is very well aware of the batting animation problem so lets not beat them over the head with it. Just hope they fixed it for this year. This quote is from last years game not to confuse anyone.

                  Good find.

Yeah, I made this as one of my favorites. I should've done this myself.
