How about Updates from Ben Brinkman

I'm not sure if Ben Brinkman visits this site or not, but I think it would be cool if he could give us some idea on what he and 2K is working on for MLB 2K8. This would give us a chance as fans to give input early in the development cycle.

That would be nice - or maybe we can bug KushGamer to death until he gives us some info? Or maybe KushGamer and Ben Brinkman are the same - you never see the two of them in the same place at the same time. Think about that.

Some kind of update would be nice, since it's the playoffs and everyone is pumped about that. I still play 2k7 everyday, but I am dying to see where they are going with 2k8! Ben, give us something!

I'm not even asking for screenshots or videos. I just wanna know what they are focusing on this year and what kind of updates we can expect.

yeah it would be cool. They said they had a 3-year plan and 2k8 will be year 3 so I want to know what all they're going to do with it.

There's absolutely no excuse to not include full minor leagues from A on up.

Hopefully they consider everything we say when developing.

2k8 will be year two, not three. Brinkman's just came on board last year and 2k7 was his first effort.

We focused on hitting, pitching, fielding, throwing, and baserunning.

I'll leave it to marketing and Ben to release information. But, some info on game production: The dev cycle is over. We are fixing bugs now. Any "early" input is back in Spring. It is what it is at this point, and I for one think it is a marked improvement from 2K7. But, of course, I am biased. So I will leave it up to you guys to decide and I'll just have to wait till March to see what you think.

It is, in fact, year 2 of the 3-year plan, and I think we are set up to accomplish what we wanted to. We ALWAYS want to do more, but there is only so much time.

The link in gobucks update gives a good idea of where we are headed.

Thanks for the update Kushgamer. Appreciate it. Bug Fixing from now till Late Jan-Early Feb? Sounds like a task which isn't fun.

Think you could answer if you guys accomplished 60fps this year?

from the link provided by gobucks, it certainly appears that they're going to (or should I say did, seeing as how KushGamer said the dev. cycle was done) do a ton of work on the fielding. Sounds good to me so far and I can't wait to hear more information about 2k8.

                            Kush,

Thanks for the update. On quick question which I am sure won't break any confidentiality agreements - did assisted fielding make it in this year? Where the user can let the cpu field and only choose to throw? Like Brinkman did with MVP05? In other words, is there any other option aside from having to do all the fielding as the user?

                            Thanks,

                            C

I would love to see this added as well. However, if the fielding animations are being re-worked then fielding may be a little easier next year. The fielding animations were a bit awkward last year.
