Re: Whats in part 2 of the 3 year plan?
Well 2K7 was better for the 360 so its only fair for the PS3 to get the superior version of 2K8.
Seriously though, I have no problem with them being equal.... but the PS3 version better not be inferior once again. If it is then I'm gonna to have to go with Sony's game exclusively for 2008.Comment

Re: Whats in part 2 of the 3 year plan?
first off i'd like to see more interaction in the stands, you know like more guys going for hotdogs and beer, stuff like that, then if they have time they could fix the pitching in this game so that it might actually be possible to throw a ball when trying to throw a strikeComment

Re: Whats in part 2 of the 3 year plan?
The pitching system in this game sucks. If they don't include some sort of classic pitching option like The Show has, then I don't see any reason to play this game. I really hope that is one of the fixes this year.Comment

Re: Whats in part 2 of the 3 year plan?
I don't see why people think MVP 05 was the benchmark for hitting. Granted the overall gameplay/franchise depth was AMAZING. However, I found the hitting to be the weakest gameplay aspect as far as bringing a semi-realistic approach to the game of baseball.
I don't think anything but a swingstick should be used just because it actually takes a bit of a learning curve and even when you've used it for months on end can still pose a challenge unlike classic (where you almost ALWAYS have to bring in house rules in order to stop yourself from jackin homeruns left n right).
I hope they add in a analog control system for throwing (like in EA's NCAA series). I find it a LOT more enjoyable than just tapping a button. I would also like to see a better pitching mechanic that actually makes you work to get strikes instead of having to force yourself to throw outside the zone.
I agree, I love how this game played especially after the patch and pole camera. I just hope they just tweek gameplay add to franchise and not mess to much with how the game plays. I am still enjoying playing this game in between ncaa games. Basically I just hope they build on what they have instead of changing things to much; can't say enough how much I love this game post patchComment

Re: Whats in part 2 of the 3 year plan?
This game needs to focus on fixing the basics.
1) Solid framerate with no slowdown. Try for 60fps, if not, at least LOCK it at 30fps
2) Make fielding feel less "stiff". no more canned animations!!!
3) Tweak classic button hitting. I'm no fan of the swing stick. Everyone I play online is not a fan either.
4)Make the game play well out of the box without having to tinker around with sliders. All the friends I know don't even touch sliders!
5) add career mode! create your own player, put them on a path to stardom!
secondary things to work on:
1) update the menus, make them more intuitive.
2) audio needs to be more exciting. especially the crowd and the ball hitting the batComment

And I agree with you about tinkering with classic batting - I hate swing stick.Comment

Re: Whats in part 2 of the 3 year plan?
For the love of God-PLEASE put the behind the pitcher cam back in for when I'm hitting! there is no reason why this shouldn't be an option. And this is a big deal to some people. I've used that view on every b-ball game I've had since it became available. Batting"regular"just doesn't work for me. I think I already put this in the wishlist somewhere, but you never know, someone from 2K might read this(fingers crossed)ByurrulzIdon'tfollowComment

Re: Whats in part 2 of the 3 year plan?
Things I'd like to see:
*BETTER CLASSIC PITCHING MODEL. Way too easy to throw strikes. I would like to be able to select a pitch throw the pitch at my chosen location and let the player ratings take over from there. Meaning have the ratings and the variable umpire decide whether the pitch is a ball or a strike. High Heat did this better than anyone. The other modes to pitch in seem silly because of the lines and circles on the screen.
*MORE FOUL BALLS. This will obviously help with pitch counts.
*BETTER BALL PHYSICS. MVP had this down. 2K7 improved on this a lot last year. I'd like to see more.
*Change the sound of the bat coming off the ball.
*MORE SIGNATURE STYLES-The few that were in the game were great. We need more. This is something that adds a ton of realism to me.
*FIELDING ANIMATIONS. There were many times when I missed a ground ball because of the way the fielders were programmed to field. When fielding a ground ball players side shuffle to them if the ball is hit the left or right of them not sprint to them. On balls hit directly at fielders they would run towards the ball. Most fielders will take a step or two in the right direction and get in an athletic stance to field it. In 2K7 players seem to run at the ball all the time with arms pumping. I hope this makes sense.Comment

Re: Whats in part 2 of the 3 year plan?
The first time I ever played with cursor hitting, I hated it. But I grew to like it, and now I think it is my preferred style. The main reason is that I can really feel the difference when I hit the ball well or not. With alot of other hitting mechanisms, I can't always tell difference in what I did to hit a HR or pop it up to the second baseman...... (I am taking generally here...not necessarily 2K or any other specific game). So I found the cursor hitting to be a bit more rewarding.Comment

Re: Whats in part 2 of the 3 year plan?
It's already been confirmed that fielding is one of the things on the list."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Re: Whats in part 2 of the 3 year plan?
hopefully they tighten up the animations and the fielding....the motion capture animations in the game seemed to be a bit too dominant over actual player control. It almost felt as if you were playing dragon's lair...remember that game?...Push a direction and watch the animated sequence unfold. No sensation of actually being in total control.
Sony's MLB The Show has much tighter and more fluid player control, fielding and hitting.
Another great game was NCAA Baseball by EA. They really did the swing stick well. and fielding was actually fun
Also work on more camera views.....not more cinematic camera cut screens during the actual gameplay but rather more fielding views you can set. Like a good old school style ariel cam that gives you a full view of the field after the ball is put in play.
Also give us an option to turn of those special behind the runner worms eye camera angle that follows the baserunner out of the box or these cinematic isolated action views that zooms in on a 3rd basemen then cuts to behind 1st base on the throw. Some people may like this stuff...but I find it breaks up the traditional baseball video game flow and makes the gameplay feel incoherent. So if there was an option to toggle off/on these extra action angles during actual balls hit in play, everyone would be happy.
I personally would love gameplay like MLB the Show with 2K's advanced models and lighting along with a deeper franchise mode that has each cpu team managed like their real life counterparts.Comment

Re: Whats in part 2 of the 3 year plan?
How about this....make a game just like THE SHOW for the 360...then i will be happy. The bottom line for me is I want to play a baseball game and have it feel like a baseball game. The show does a great job at that. I pray 2k8 fixes the hitting so it feels like you earned it, fixes the fielding, and makes the franchise playable without massive glitches. The game is gorgous but I really dont understand this 3 yr plan deal.Comment
