Make sure you are playing in GAME mode on the set. Samsungs have some issues with ghosting and other artifact issues even with the latest sets. Requires a firmware update which helps most of the time, but playing in Game mode is best option. And yes, make sure you have the correct, quality cables.

Check out avsforum.com for specific info on Samsungs and other brands.

I have, and I still get lag.

I'm using Game Mode. I'm not using any special things like Dynamic Contrast or Black Level. It. Just. Lags.

It's not even close to unnoticeable, either. You have to press the swing button about midway through the pitch to even get a swing off, let alone being late for the pitch. It's just unfathomable. I have yet to try Guitar Hero on it, but I'm sure I won't be pleased, which is unfortunate.

And I've gone to the forums as well, in the specific LN-Txx53H thread. They say there shouldn't be any issues, either.

Either way, I'm without my TV for a whole month. I left it at school during winter break, so I can't test anything until then.

Oh, and I heard response time should be best with the VGA cable, hence the reason I bought it (and so it can upscale DVDs).

Sounds like you got a lemon. It happens. Any chance you can return it when you get back?

None chance, I'm afraid. The policy states:

          - I may return any unopened product for money back or exchange within 30 days.

          - I may return any product in original form and package, etc. for money back within 15 days.

          - I may return the product within 7 days for money back.

Unfortunately, I didn't test this until about 2 - 3 weeks after buying the TV. I could have sworn there were exceptions for televisions which made my chances even worse, but I can't find them anymore. Any which way... this just blows.

BTW, I can't get a firmware upgrade if the number of the upgrade is smaller than my model. I don't know if that makes sense, but mine is a 1026, and the latest upgrade thus far is 1023. Does that mean I should just wait until like 1027 comes out and then upgrade after that?

Oh, and can someone explain ghosting? I thought it was an issue with the image itself, not controller-to-TV response time.

I don't know what to do about it, and I can't exactly return this TV. You don't know how much convincing it took to actually get the TV, having well known that 8 ms shouldn't give you any lag (according to EG). Little do I know, it does.

              ... it does...
If your TV is 8ms on the refresh rate, and it looks like it is, you shouldn't have any lag. Get a warranty? You have a bad tv.

So is this the HDTV thread now?

Well, if this game had lag calibration, it would be talking about features.
