Brinkman has said the depth of field will be 'improved' this year. Seems like many people (including the team) felt the blur was a little excessive at times.

Well, while there isn't anything to compare, I will still look at these shots and say that MLB 2K7 looks superior, especially in lighting. I think what you're looking at is lighting contrast, and IMO it's not better there either. It's just richer, which IMO it's too rich.

One thing about the lighting though is I love how realistic it is in 2K7. Play a day game at Angels Stadium, and have the sunlight reflection off the rocks blind you when there's a righty-righty match-up. Then notice how real the self-shadowing is. No, I'm not talking about the player's shaded areas, I'm talking about the shadow the bat casts over the shoulder, etc. There is an actual feel of the sun in this game, rather than just "created" sunlight on players in games in the past.

And I don't know yet because I didn't play The Show for PS3 last year, but do the games progress to night from evening? How does it look?

As far as I know, there was no progression. The 1st inning of night games started/ended at night.

Well, if anyone read my posts last year, you knew how aggravated I was that no games had this, and that it really needed to be in ball games. IMO it makes them much more fun seeing the dynamic change of a night game. That said, MLB 2K7 having it (and hopefully MLB 2K8 improving on it even more) is definitely a strange selling point for me, but a big factor nevertheless.

Speaking of which, I actually thought we were told there was going to be progression to night games in The Show last year. (?)

I'm not a fan of the company, but the product and its style and direction. I must say, you're right (in a way): I'm 2K until proven The Show, if that makes sense. By default, I go by what I feel I enjoy a little more thoroughly. It might take a little more for The Show to get me. I think I'm a graphics whore.

That doesn't mean I don't own other games, though. I owned MVP 2005. It got about 50 games out of me before I decided I just played MLB 2K5 more, and sold it. I [still] own MLB '06: The Show. Hell, I play my career mode in that more than any current-gen MLB 2K game. But the most fun I've ever had in a game (and still do have) is MLB Power Pros. I think one big thing about it is you can't really "complain" about the graphics, knowing beforehand what kind of visuals you are getting yourself into of course. Also, games are very short, yet still very sim-like. I'm having loads of fun being the Brewers with a draft, creating me and my roommate, and just... you know... playing like 4 or 5 games a day. As a matter of fact, I'm about to boot up the game right after this post.

The thing is, if I were that much of a die-hard fan, I would already own a 360 or PS3. But I am enough of one that, if they come out with the end-all stellar baseball game, I would certainly go out of my way to get it. Yet there are still glaring issues that hold me back (one right now will be of my own fault, and that is the lag on my TV... until I figure out an issue for that, I think I'll be without a 360/PS3). You guys know how much I defend this game at the beginning, and then after that phase passes, I get very aggravated at what they're missing. I'm in the defending stage right now I think, and it will definitely show when first media is released. But I am by no means a 2K fanboy.

But you'll never know unless you're trying these games out man.. .I understand you're young, but I'm sure I'm not the only one that wonders why you would spend all this time analyzing and critiquing things based off of video and some time put in at Best Buy.

Save up the money and go for it!

I think you've missed the part over the past long time that I have the money and then some. But now my biggest issue is about my own TV lag. I don't know what to do about it, and I can't exactly return this TV. You don't know how much convincing it took to actually get the TV, having well known that 8 ms shouldn't give you any lag (according to EG). Little do I know, it does.

... it does...

Is your VGA adaptor the official MS one? And have you tried playing with component cables instead?

I had ghosting issues with Madden '07 and 2k7, using VGA. Went to component and messed around with my TV settings and haven't looked back.

They are the official MS ones. I ran it in 1366 x 768 (or was it 1360?)

I haven't tried component cables with the 360, but I have with Xbox and PS2. Just to make sure it wasn't a 480p issue, I also tried WSB 2K3 (which runs in 720p). Same lag.

No way you should be getting lag. Borrow your friends component cables and try those.

HD-DVDs and XBox 360 games look incredible. There is no perceivable lag for games when using the side inputs with "Vyper Mode."
