Too many HRs is not an issue in 2K8

    I PROMISE

If you watch the IGN vids, these guys were mostly throwing "Meatballs". I wonder if they were intentionally doing it to jack homers? That is also why they were mostly in the strikezone. Meatballs end up at a random location within the zone and have a very low "pitch quality score" in the calculations, thus making them extremely hittable. When executing the interface properly, the results are very nice. You'll be able to get the feel for it in the demo.

When the game is played properly, it plays an amazingly accurate game of baseball. It really feels right. I'm not trying to sell copies here either (viewers of this site make up maybe 0.1% of everyone that will buy the game, so it doesn't really matter what I say on here). I'm trying to get people not to over-react to 4 plays of watching a 2-player game where they are serving the ball up to each other - that's wiffle ball, not baseball.

Take it from a guy who when people ask what his religion is, generally replies, "The closest thing I have to religion is baseball. My deities are the Yankees and on Sunday I go to Yankee Stadium to practice my faith." I've played baseball my whole life and when I wasn't doing that, I was playing video games. This game is a lot of fun. I hope you guys will check out the demo or rent it if you're not willing to drop the $60 right off the bat.

I honestly don't know why people are judging this game off of 5 minutes of gameplay.

I think the game looks great. I'm a "Show" guy, but the graphics are gorgeous and the animations look a little smoother to me.

I wish some dudes would at least wait for more media before they start bashing a game.

        Kush,

I want you to know that while I have been critical of some of the things I have seen in the video, I am not "writing" the game off and I do see some definate improvements. At this point I just need to see more video and play the demo. I will say that I appreciate the hard work you guys put in regardless and thanks for being here on the boards to answer questions.

Thanks for the post. I knew right away they were cheap vids, and nothing great (like a full inning or non HR vids) that should have been shown.

How others didnt see this is beyond me.

I will hold my reservations for when the demo hits, more vids are shown, etc.

It's OS, happens with every release.

I can't wait to see the new pitching and fielding interfaces. I'll be at Gamestop on release day, but that's just me.

              Good point.

OK, I'm exhausted and off to dinner. Maybe I'll be back on later, but I have house guests, so probably not.

              Later guys.

Kush I got the game pre-ordered man. I can't wait for it I am just a bit dissapointed in what I have seen so far but I am sure that once you have the controller in your hand and the game on a TV right in front of you it becomes a hell of a lot different.

Thanks for coming on Kush, go ahead enjoy your dinner, be a good host. I am going to reserve judgement until I get my hands on the game. A few vids mean nothing to me, once we get the demo we will more accurately tell how this game really plays.

I just wish 2k themselves would care enough about their customers and would take the time and put up their own videos on their own website. If this is the kind of crap IGN puts out every year than why would 2k want our first impressions based off of IGN? I don't know, I just thought I would see something that would have me saying OMG!!!

Thanx for the heads up Kush. I certainly am not concerned. I don't believe it's fair to judge how a game plays without playing it!! Most you can do is see how a game looks visually from videos. What level they are playing on and their skill level and in this case HOW they are playing the game have more to do with how the game is playing out. On the Jeter HR it seemed like it was definetley a purpose meatball. I wish these "gamers" at IGN would actually be in the top 5% in baseball games and not just some FPS gamers picking up a copy and messing around.
