How often are fans really booing? The post I responded to implied that the crowd should boo every time the away team scores a run. Yes, that would be lame.

They boo certain players and they boo when they're losing or something bad happens. He never mentioned nor implied every time.

I remember Tony Larussa Baseball 96 ? had three(3) anouncers you can pick from. One of them was Mel Allen, the other two I don't who remember who they were but they were real baseball anouncers.

The anouncing wasn't as good as they are today but it was a unique feature to have in a BB game..I use to randomly pick the other two when I would play away games. Mel Allen was my Home team anouncer for my Yankees!!

Yes a premium although I haven't played the game since about... May? Going on memory here... I even watched a few videos to refresh my memory prior to posting it.

To make a blanket statement like "The Show is not bringing anything new to the table" considering you have not even seen its implementation I think is pretty ridiculous. But to each their own... For all we know 2k8 might not be "bringing anything new to the table" as well, but I'll reserve comments like that until both titles are out.

Where did I say 2K8 is going to bring something new to the table. Actually wait, they will be. The pitching.

Anyhow, you said that The Show would have the replay feature in which you also said 2K did not have. I was just telling you they did have it, and it isnt anything new now 3 years later, and actually praised The Show for having it as well, since I think it is now and important presentation value.

No need to get all sensitive over the "nothing new" comment. Because it is true, and NOT a bash.

Well if you didn't mind it, then you should enjoy it this year. BB said they did record new things for the commentary, and they will cut to Jeanie, etc for news breaks on other game updates in between innings and plays (which would rock if they showed highlights from other games)!!!

Other games? Wow this is tight! Can u provide the link for this. This is the kinda thing I expect out of next-gen games.

Well I rechecked and he said current update of the games. In the gamespot interview... so maybe I was confused, but they SHOULD do this ... but who knows ... maybe it is just for on the field events and such during the game.

Okay, so I just read that The Show 08 has 10 gigabytes of commentary. What the hell?!

I really wish The Show was available on the 360. Time for Microsoft to dust off it's XSN sports division!

Yep, its all about the time they have to devote to a game. They are big name guys, I actually like their broadcasts on espn Sunday nights. I haven't played a game yet where the commentary didn't get old.

You must be one of the few that actually like Joe and Jon on Sunday nights. Jon can be ok, but Joe has got to go. I really enjoyed one game last year where Joe didn't say a thing for about 4 innings. It was the best, well not really, but good enough.

I think they're great as well. Love Sunday Night Baseball. You know, I think the problem here is people are getting them mixed up with the REAL announcers from hell - Buck and McCarver.

Who knows? Maybe "nothing new" will still be better than "something new?" I know it worked for MVP '05. Either way, again... I'll wait until I play both games.

As a side note... considering you post exclusively here about 2k8... you should try The Show (PS3)... because if you did, you wouldn't have claimed "nothing new," that's for sure.

Yes, The Show's commentary is simply spectacular. Probably the best in sports gaming.

Listening to the commentary on that new video makes me think not much was added. I guess i'll have to mute the TV until the big games (clinching the division, playoffs etc etc)

I don't get it when you guys say the show has spectacular commentary. The play by play is pretty good, but the Cambell guy and Hudler are not. They talk as if they are looking at the script and just reading it. They may have more to say than 2k8, but it's not very interesting.

Color commentary guys typically aren't... at least in video games.

It's more than just play-by-play... it's the 99.9% spot on calling of a play between ALL of them... as well as the recognition of specific career events.

If you've jumped into the career mode and a franchise where you play the games you'd easily see that. Mention of career strikeout milestones, stolen bases, HR's, stats accumulating throughout the season... I could go on, but this is the 2k forum.

I think that is the key though...quanity. Obviously, everything is going to be scripted since it has to be pre-programmed into the game. But when you play a season or a franchise and hear the same repetitive comments every game, it gets old real fast.

I think the main problem with Joe and John is that they aren't accessible. From interviews with Ben Brinkman, it sounds as if it is very difficult to get either of the guys in the studio and get the sound bytes they truely want.

Secondly, the scipts they read or the comments/stories they come up with themselves are too long. Most of the time Joe will go into a story and it will be cut off because of something happening in the game. If you want to hear the story, you kind of have to wait to throw a pitch because once you do, Joe will cut of John.

I would much rather then have 10 quick things to say about each player than 1-2 long drawn out stories. This would keep things from being as repetitive and would prevent stories from being cut-off.

Also, it would be nice if they could just get more generic stuff to fill up time. Every time a player comes up (excluding his first at bat), they should give you a recap. This dialouge would be very generic, but when combined with all of the possible situations and different phrases could be very complex. I mean how many different ways can you say a guy is 3-5 with a triple, a single a double, a stikeout and a groundout?
-He's reached base in 3 of his 5 at bats.
-He's a HR short of the cycle
-After getting hits in his first 3 at bats, he has been retired in his last two.
-He's 3-5 with a single, double and a homer.
-etc. etc.

I just think if they had more of this stuff and less "He attended stevens creek high school in South Dakota", there would be more variety.
