i agree 100 percent with that.

Sliders should COMPLEMENT gameplay, it shoudlnt BE gameplay.

I agree as well but it doesnt bother me as much, because back in the day on Triple Play '97 for PS1 i hit like 100 HR wit Manny Ramirez on the Indians....there were no sliders to tone that down....so extra HR and hits have alwasy plagued games....so the fact we have sliders to tone these things down allow us to fix something that maybe is inevitable....

Not to speak for Kush, but if I recall correctly, he said that he thought the crowd reactions were improved from what they were in 2K7, but that he thought they could stand to be improved a lot more.
Of course, if Dawson gets hot, and
          Sutcliffe comes through, and....
Pa, see what you did to me?

Yes, I personally wrote a few lines of code that should up the intensity in those kinds of situations.

I think part of the problem is that the audio is recorded from random regular season games. 2K needs to get someone out to a playoff game at Yankee Stadium and record that. It's defeaning and the whole stadium is rumbling beneath you. It's awesome.

its just not constant...u hit a HR they get excited....and then it dies down before the replay is even over....but mayb 2k8 is different....thanx for the response....

^^^ In contrast I think alot of the out of the box play leans more to the arcade player....simulation will usually require some slider tweaking IME. Face it...most of the the 10-18 year olds want the computer to throw strikes all the time and they want to swing and they usually don't mess with "sliders".

Now, a ball hit over an outfielders head should never result in a single thats not simulation or arcade, its just not baseball period. So sliders in this case are usefull but should not be needed to "fix".

I really just have one question...

It says that we can use the same button-layout like last year's if we don't want to use the new pitching mechanic. I DO want to use the new pitching mechanic, however, I would like to use the old batting mechanic with buttons and using the left analog to direct the swing.

Is it possible in this year's game to use last year's batting mechanic (buttons and left analog) AND THIS year's pitching mechanic simultaneously? As in, when I bat, I can use last year's buttons and left analog and when pitching, I can use the new right analog pitching mechanic? Thanks!

Well if thats the case how did High Heat (3DO I believe) go bankrupt? They went str8 sim for sure and tanked. But thats a whole nother thread....

To me its balance-appealing to the masses, a catchy or trademark name and marketing. Hehe...I'm a salesman can't you tell.

3DO didnt only make HH Baseball....they tanked for others reasons....but HH was always regarded as an excellent game....if MLB 2Kx would approach the game with 100% sim experience and leave the gimicks like big heads to the bigs....MLB 2K would mos def see the benefits of making that switch....

So HH helped 3DO's cause? I honestly don't know...but I never thought it faired well in total sales as compared to the other titles at the time?

Making a great game these days is way overshadowed by sales and these game companies aren't going to make 2 versions.

Madden works becouse of -apealing to the masses, a catchy and trademark name and marketing like mad.------------way off topic we should get back on track!

I think within a matter or 4 or 5 basic questions you could determine what kind of player you were playing with. Then based on your answers, the game would select a "personality" and move the sliders to cater to you. Then you could adjust what you wanted to from that point.

Maybe there are 5 personality types that range from True Arcade to Pure Sim
This is a good idea. NHL 2K6 had something similiar. They didn't ask the user questions, but there were about 5 different playing styles that had preset options and sliders which could be adjusted. I can't remember if it was implemented well, but I thought it was a great idea. I think there was an arcade mode, a sim mode, a mode where players where extra fast, a mode with extra hitting etc.
