    What team are you GM/Managing?

Let's get some baseball talk going on in here!

It's going to be tough being the GM/Manager of the Cardinals this year.. or at least I have MANY decisions to make before making up my roster. I think the NL Central will be a battle for sure with Milwaukee, Chicago, Houston, Cincy, and even Pittsburgh is always tough to play against.

Besides the OF, my lineup is about complete in my head, but pitching is going to be tough and I'm going to play many exhibition games to decide who's starting this year. I'm wondering if Carp and Mulder will be injured on the rosters that ship with the game?

I'm hoping to hear from some NL Central team players so I can get some insight on the teams in this division this year.

    A's:

With all the turnover, it will take a while to figure out a starting lineup. Without any real threats in the middle of the lineup, I may take an anti-money ball approach and take some chances on offense.

I'm hoping that with a realistic set of sliders, I can fight for .500 the first year and go from there.

My biggest concern is player progression. The A's picked up a few top prospects from other teams when they dealt away Haren and Swisher and I'm hoping that over the course of a few years, some of them actually turn out to be studs.

I usually jump right into the current years Franchise, but I may sim a few seasons a few times to see if the progression is even worth it. If I see all of my young stars in the 60's and 70's in 2 or 3 years, it won't even be worth the trouble.

      Twins all the way.

All the young talent should give me a solid core to build around for years.

Mauer and Morneau are not even in their prime yet and all of our young pitchers are still developing while doing pretty respectable.

Maybe with a big bat FA pick up I could turn them into a very serious contender. (Minus Santana )

Well I am going with my Yankees and I think I will keep the trend the team is moving towards....cut payroll and raise young players thru the ranks....

Obviously im not cutting ARod or Jeter, but I am also not resigning some of the big contracts that will be leaving after this year (Giambi, Abreu, Farnsworth?, Mussina)

I am also going to keep Joba Chamberlain in the bullpen (I will drop his stamina if he is listed as starter in the game in order to keep things fair). He is going to be my 8th inning Setupman and Hawkins will be my 7th inning. I also plan on maybe possibly trading Mussina at the deadline and get some young talent from a team that is still alive in the race and is looking for that missing piece...I know video games dont think like that but u can more or less sees who needs a #3 type starter in their rotation like Mussina....so someone like the White Sox or the Astros who are midway thru the season mite be looking for that missing piece to get them 5-7 wins from August - September to push the the stretch....

Johnny Damon is going to be my everyday LF and Melky my everyday CF....

I am going to use Giambi every single day if i have too at 1B and Matsui will be my DH and replace the outfielders on days off. Also Giambi will step in if im giving one my outfielders the day off as DH while Matsui shifts to that OF position.

The bench I will have to see what I got/can get and the bullpen will be a work in progress the 1st year...

Personally I'm going to rebuild the Pirates. It's a challenge I've looked forward too every year lol. None the less I'm going to see if I can build some of our young SP's into a solid rotation, possibly sign some experience for the bullpen and bring in a veteran catcher to compete w/ Ronny Paulino. It should be a fun year trying to stay at .500 =).

Re: What team are you GM/Managing?

              Two teams...

Phillies... and 1st thing I am doing is locking up Ryan Howard for 7 years. Then I'm gonna let Burrells contract expire at the end of the season. I'm also going to be looking for a #3 starter by the trade deadline, or for an ace in the FA market.

Aside from those things I'll be keeping the roster relatively the same for the first 3-4 years of my franchise/GM mode because I think that this team can compete as is (after I get an Ace, and extend Howard's contract) for a long time to come.

Orioles...Rebuild, rebuild, rebuild so by 2012 or so I'll have the O's facing off w/ the Phillies in the WS (hopefully it will be the Phillies 2nd or 3rd time there since starting up my franchise).

                  Orioles.
Every year it is a fun challenge trying to build them back up to playoff contenders.

I haven't decided yet. I'm an Orioles fan, which is really depressing, but I'm kinda tired of playing as the same team every year and just playing against the AL teams over and over. I'm thinking of using the Dodgers since I always went for them in the NL as a kid growing up out there. Maybe I can finally win them a playoff series.

LOL. I know I came to Bawlmer about 10 years ago and they haven't even teased us for more than half a season. Looks like a few more years, but at least there is some hope now.

Ill be taking my Padres. We have a pretty solid infield, starting rotation and bullpen for this year, the issue will be my outfield specially left field. good thing we have some good prospects that i cant wait to play with in our minor league teams.

                              I'll be doing two...

The Nationals, because I like their young players, Milledge, Pena, Dukes, and Clippard. It'll be fun turning those guys into stars.

And The Yankees, can't wait to bring up some guys from the minors and turn Joba into a shutdown closer. And of course dealing Farnsworth and the rest of those bums.
