Hey, you know what would be super cool? (Giggles) Let's start entire OS chat board consisting of love letters to Ben Brinkman! Tee hee! Oh, wait we already have that. It's called "2k Sports - Major League Baseball."

We get it. Brinkman worked on MVP 2005, the ever-attractive "love we lost." I hope to hell this new 2k8 is more playable than last year's, because it seems to me that the two best thinks 2k has going for it right now are (a) 3rd-party exclusivity; and (b) Blind Polyannism about the glorious future BB will lead us to. Instead of excusing everything 2k does wrong with its exclusive baseball game (on the 360, at least), why aren't we asking why NONE of the 2k baseball titles have ever been as good as EA's MVP '05 or SCEA's The Show '07?

Not to start a fight, but that was highly cynical. Here's a thought. (a) this is BB's first full development cycle, he came in late last year. (b) early reports are positive about the gameplay, which was the stated main focus. We get it, 2k's sucked for a couple of years now. Now we have BB on board, and his previous resume gives me hope. How about we reserve condemnation or judgement until the demo drops?

that's your opinion they've never been as good.

I think it's funny that you make of fun people for supporting the game so much despite having never played it yet you're killing it despite having never played it.

i've decided i will buy it without playing a demo. i really liked 2k7 last year and hopefully that can translate itself well into 2k8. If not at least THEN i can give a fair review of it for those that are on the fence about it.

Heck yeah dude, I'm in the same boat. I am critical of 2K7 and have been a little critical of what i have seen from 2K8 preview builds. But when it comes down to it, I enjoyed 2K7 for the most part, and 2K8 looks to be just a lot more focused game than it's predecessor. New pitching interface and tons of new sig styles. At WORST this game would be a roster update with SLIGHTLY better gameplay, but I believe it's gonna be much much more.

I hear you, I'll be doing the same. I'll be going on gut, I just have a pretty good feeling about the way this game is going to play.
But I'm going in with my eyes wide open, if I get burnt like the last two versions (granted last years wasn't the total disaster 2k6 was, it just had too many gameplay issues) then I have no one to blame but myself.

The question seemed to be "what makes him any more trustworthy than any other developer who talks up his game," and I think that makes more people trust him with the direction of 2K is the level of detail that he shows in his interviews and when talking with him. Having had the opportunity to talk with him myself, albeit a few years ago, I thought that it was worth making a note given the topic at hand.

I don't see any need for the reaction that you had, especially considering that I have been very critical of MLB 2K6 and 2K7, and have been partially critical of some of the things that I saw of 2K8 that I didn't like (though I'm waiting for the final game to really make my judgement). I loved MVP and really enjoyed what I played of The Show demo this year, but remember, this is an internet forum, if you don't like that people talk about topics other than those that you're interested in or agree with, then perhaps you shouldn't be using the internet.
