The full game played better than the demo, although as with some games, the Demo loaded faster and occassionally ran smoother than the full game, which has happened in other sports games loading off the disc.

Traditionally, demos are built from games well before they reach their final stage. My guess is the demo version of 2K8 is likely taken from either the Beta (which Steve has) or the pre-Beta (that Betterai has).

Then again, given how long it took 2K to get the demo in Sony/Microsoft's hands, it may be final. But I doubt it.

I don't think it would be a final either. I think it has either failed MS certification, or wasn't submitted too late. I heard it takes two weeks for MS certification, but I don't know if that is true.

Generally the turn around time for MS certification is two weeks. The Call of Duty 4 patch that just got put up was in Cert for about 2 weeks, NHL08's demo this past fall took about 2, thats the general turn around time for the most part.

I am liking what I'm hearing, I do wish they had touched upon Lineup changes and making sure ERA's are correct as those two are pretty much franchise killers for me. I'm keeping my fingers crossed though, not having a PS3, I really want to have a great baseball game to play this year as MLB 2k8 is my only option.

If the negatives are presentation and audio, I think I'll be a happy camper. Full minor leagues, solid gameplay, and a challenging pitching interface is more than enough for me. I think this game is going to very solid. I think this game looks very clean and crisp and the graphics look to be great again. I love the player models in this game.

I know its corny, but playing my teams minor league games is going to be great. I can't wait for someone to make an awesome roster set.

How are the minors players going to work? Did they buy the minor league baseball license so that they have real player names, or are they all just generic Joes?

Nah, the only minor players with real names are going to be those that made MLB appearances. Don't worry, somebody will make a good roster

I dont have a Maxx memory manager thing anyway. Forgot that it's only the ones who have been in the MLB. That is a good amount of the AAAers and some of the AAers though, so thats not so raw a deal.

Re: Just got the new EGM, MLB 2K8 review!!

My main concern is the "franchise-ending" bug. Last year I got to the WS (Cubs!) only to find that my save file was corrupted. On that day i promised myself I would never buy another 2k baseball title ever. I have calmed down a bit since then, but I will still hold off on 2k8 until all the bug/file corruption issues are shown to not exist.

That said, the game does look pretty good from what I have seen. The lack of atmosphere/crowd reaction becomes a big deal when you play mostly offline franchise/career games. Lifeless crowds make all those franchise games start to blend together and starts to really mess with my will to play.

                      We will see...
                      Thanks for the advice.

In most systems, a B is between 80 - 89, so a B- would be in the 80 - 83 range, B would be an 84 to an 86, and B+ would be an 87 - 89. So, pretty solid improvement from last year's... sounds good to me

I like that they switched from the numerical system and wish more reviewers would do it. Giving an "83" or an "84," I don't know, it seems to arbitrary ... like "This game got an 84 while this game got an 85... meaning this game is better than the other..." when there are so few differences between 84 and 85 that "B" just serves it up better.

The atmosphere doesn't have to be that great for me to enjoy the game, BUT I gotta have my organ sounds in the background. A baseball game isn't a baseball game without the organ.

Yep. I don't wanna hear too much "radio" at the game.
